About this property
La Petite Foret | 17th Century Secluded Cottage near Durbuy and Ciney
Escape to the tranquil oasis of our holiday house cottage nestled in the Belgian Ardennes and unwind completely in nature. Our secluded ancient farmhouse is only 20 min away from Durbuy and Ciney and 30 min from Namur, Liège and Rochefort and provides all modern comfort whilst maintaining the allure and warm atmosphere of the past. Experience the serene and cozy atmosphere, perfect for unwinding with your loved ones in complete seclusion. Ideal for family gatherings and bonding with friends.
If we are nearby, we will gladly welcome you in person and show you around, explaining the ins and outs of our cottage. If this is not possible, we will make sure everything is ready for your arrival and that the keys are available in a key box. We have also created a brochure (still in progress) that explains the things you need to know about the house, as well as some tips and tricks on what to do, where to eat and drink, and what to see in the area.
Neighbourhood | Our house is surrounded by meadows, forests, and an endless number of narrow but muddy paths. Don’t forget your rubber boots for the many walks along these trails, or bring your 4x4 (just like our good old Jeep a.k.a. Willy) or motorbike to explore one of the many country roads during your visit to the numerous castles or towns in the area.
Shopping | Despite its countryside location, all essential shops are close by (Delhaize in Havelange, Spar in Clavier, Okay in Ohey, etc.).
Privacy | During your stay, the cottage is entirely yours. You are free to use the bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, garden, dining room, living room, and patio. Since we occasionally come back to relax, you may find some personal belongings in a cupboard or the fridge.
Check-in | If we are not nearby, we will provide you with all instructions shortly before your arrival.
Holiday Home | We recently renovated our old cottage to restore it to its former glory. We aimed to bring it back to life by using only antique and/or reclaimed (recycled or repurposed) building materials, without compromising today’s comfort. Our secluded home is located on a semi-detached road, making it very peaceful and quiet (except for the birdsong and the sound of a nearby babbling brook ;-)).
Bedrooms | We have 3 bedrooms, each with double beds (160 cm wide). One of the bedrooms serves as a passage to another bedroom.
Bathrooms (2) | Bubbles galore! Do you prefer a long, relaxing bath or a quick shower? You don’t need to decide! Dim the lights and immerse yourself (even as a couple) in our copper bathtub. Quick morning showers can also be enjoyed together, either in the large walk-in shower downstairs or in the bathroom upstairs, adjoining one of the bedrooms.
Kitchen | Foodies unite! The kitchen is fully equipped with an English always-hot AGA cooker with 2 gas burners, 2 large coup-de-feu hotplates, and four ovens. Japanese Damascus steel kitchen knives, a dishwasher, combi microwave and oven, and induction hobs are also available for summer, when the AGA is turned off.
BBQ | Fire up the grill! Outside in the back garden, right by the back door, you’ll find our barbecue.
Garden | A weed is just a flower you haven’t met yet! Find your inner peace in the garden while reading a book, enjoying an apéro on the terrace, or preparing some slow-cooked, juicy meat on the grill.
Getting here | To reach our old cottage, public transport may be limited. While it may be possible to get here by public transport to some extent, we recommend using a car for convenience and efficiency when reaching your destination.
🛏️ To make sure everything is perfectly ready for your stay, please double-check that the number of guests in your booking matches who will be coming — this helps us prepare the right bedding, towels, and little touches for everyone.
❗️Please note that 90% of the rental price covers the holiday home, while 10% covers the rental of movable goods. No additional services such as daily cleaning or breakfast are provided.
🐕 Pets are allowed, but please contact us beforehand so we can assess each case individually. Due to extra cleaning and potential allergies for future guests, a flat fee of €50 applies.
🔥 Firewood is not provided as standard. Guests can purchase it at Orga Havelange or Mr. Bricolage in Ohey.
🧘🏼 Time to sit back, relax, and reconnect with your #innerpeace.
