BALQUHIDDER
Steeped in Celtic mythology, the area was long considered a “thin place” a realm where the boundary between the physical and spiritual worlds is barely perceptible. The glen is home to the ruins of the original Balquhidder Kirk, built in 1631, which contains the grave of the legendary outlaw Rob Roy MacGregor, who once roamed these hills. Within the current church, built in 1855, lies the headstone of St. Angus, a 7th-century missionary credited with bringing Christianity to this sacred corner of Scotland.
The Braes of Balquhidder are reached via a scenic single-track road off the A84, lying at the northernmost edge of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is steeped in myth, history, and spiritual significance. Four miles west of the village, along the glen, lies the magnificent Loch Voil, near the acclaimed Monachyle Mhor.

A truly magical place. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable, with large beds. The artwork throughout the house adds real character, and the surrounding scenery is simply breathtaking. The house has a beautiful small garden where you can enjoy a cup of hot tea, observe the surrounding wilderness, listen to the gentle sound of the wind chimes, and watch birds at the feeder. In the centre of the garden stands a lovely tree that carries a strong, grounding energy. A nice touch is the studio room, where you can paint and create, feeling naturally inspired by the artwork and peaceful surroundings. We highly recommend this accommodation. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The house is a beautiful place to stay and feels peaceful from the moment you arrive. the guest rooms are very spacious, bright and extremely comfortable, with wonderful beds and immaculate sheets. what really stood out were the thoughtful additions for guests such as fresh flowers, books, toys a small fridge, sofas and cushions, all clearly chosen with care and making you feel genuinely welcome. the garden and terrace look out over open meadows with mountains beyond and the view is stunning and very calming. the house is located in the small town of balquhidder, right on a cycle route and perfectly placed for outdoor activities. the log fireplace was a real highlight and we loved how easy the heating was to control using alexa. i would highly recommend this accommodation as it is a special place in a beautiful location.
