Super location but a bit noisy with lots of traffic on Superior. It needs AC and most windows were painted shut. Otherwise, fine.

Gorgeous Heritage House
We stayed 4 nights at this beautiful house located in the middle of historic Victoria. It was a beautifully decorated home. Our three generations were able to walk and explore and enjoy our surroundings.

Booking problems
The place is nice and great location. Had the place booked and have written confirmation of dates. Was forced to leave a full day earlier than booked as they doubled booked.

Charming rental in great location
We loved our stay! The location is fantastic, right in the heart of Victoria but the street it is on was very quiet. It felt very safe walking around at night. The rental itself was extremely spacious with lovely decor. The photos were accurate. The beds were very comfortable, as were the living room's couches. The kitchen was well stocked too. It is worth noting that there are rentals upstairs and downstairs. We heard a bit of noise through the ceiling, but it was nothing that bothered us. We were very happy with our stay and would highly recommend it to others.

About the host

Hi there. I'm Cindy and I've had a passion for both architecture and travel since I was a child. I always knew that creating interesting homes would be a big part of my life. I fell in love with The Robert Porter House the first time I walked into it. It makes me very happy that I can share this unique home with people from all over the world.
I hope you love Victoria and The Robert Porter Inn as much as we do.

Why they chose this property

A lovely retreat with an amazing James Bay location in the very heart of Victoria. This beautiful Heritage Home was designed in 1896 by locally famous architect Samuel Maclure. The home has been restored to its original splendor while adding many modern comforts such as heated tile floors, gas fireplaces, sunken patios and lovely gardens. Each suite has it's own private entrance and private 4 piece bath.
The city is at your doorstep. The home is a short walking distance to everything from Beacon Hill Park, the Royal British Columbia Museum, and National Geographic's IMAX theatre. The picturesque Inner Harbour, Parliament Buildings, Empress hotel and shops & restaurants are just one block away.
We strive to offer our guests a private and quiet escape in the center of everything wonderful that Victoria has to offer.

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location.
James Bay is one of the best areas in Victoria. Beacon Hill Park is right across the street from The Inn. It's our largest urban retreat with lovely ponds and incredible gardens. Visit the parks children's farm, where there's also a petting zoo. On the opposite side of the park you'll cross Dallas Rd to the beaches along the pacific ocean. Great for runners, cyclists, roller blading or simply walking along and enjoying the spectacular view. To enjoy a more local street scene, make your way to the Cook Street Village (a short 5 min drive away). Follow Southgate street to the Cook street shops, pubs, restaurants, markets and cafes. Less touristy than downtown Victoria, this area will be a pleasant surprise. For a larger selection of restaurants, bars and shops you can also walk to downtown Victoria. Either way, you won't be disappointed.
