We’re happy to hear you enjoyed your stay at Gillean house and found it to be a good location for heading out and exploring Skye. Come again!
Beautiful house and amazing views! We loved it! You do need to prepare yourself for a 5 mile drive on a single track bumpy road to get in and out everyday. But it’s worth it!
This was a mixed bag. The property is rather remote, so perfect for anyone wanting to get away from the maddening crowd. It's views are lovely. It offers many amenities such as a working fireplace, washer and dryer (more on those later), beach front, lovely rooms, heated floors and towel racks in the bathrooms. The shopping area is approx. 20 mins drive away - not crazy far - and they have a few lovely cafes, shops, groceries and pharmacies When we arrived however, the house was freezing cold. We turned everything that could possibly heat the house on, and it was warm 24 hours later. But, not very welcoming. There are also strict instructions re parking. It requires you to squeeze into a specific spot between two perpendicular stone walls and maneuver around the gates at the same time. Quite a feat in a rented, unfamiliar car. Washing clothes turned into a marathon night. A head's up to the owners: your washing machines aren't like ours. At all. A user's manual would save a lot of frustration and time for your guests. So, pros and cons. I don't thing we would return but only because if the remoteness.

This is an amazing place to stay! Beautiful , spacious house, off the beaten path, on the beach, perfect for our group of 5 adults. Great kitchen with enough pots and pans for cooking and eating and storing food. Lovely rooms. pretty outdoor space to enjoy the surrounding scenery. Beautiful sunsets. Loved sleeping to the sounds of waves rolling in and sheep calling out in the distance. Perfection! Long one lane drive off the main road.
An absolutely gorgeous view of the ocean. The tide goes out and we walked on the beach with the most amazing clouds and colors. The house was spotless and the host very responsive. The location is way more beautiful and striking than the pics show. If you want a home that is off the beaten path and surrounded by great beauty this is for you.
Such a stunning location, jaw dropping beauty. And the property was very well laid out, spacious and clean! Truly amazing. The pics don’t do it justice.
Be warned, drive slow on the road to Gilead House. It’s a single lane, bumpy hilly road. All the drivers we met were cautious and courteous though.
Very clean, spacious and well-equipped house, plus a beautiful view from every window! All questions we had were answered immediately. Great place to stay!
