A very unique, two-level summer home in Oikismos Ligoneri on the island of Spetses. The house retains its original open patio (the only house in Oikismos with a sunroof to let in light). With its large openings and manually operated tents, the house is naturally bright, airy and cool. Situated at the very top of Oikismos, a private community whose 220 houses are nestled on a hill among pine trees, 219 offers a great view across the sea to the mountains of the Peloponnese, as well as spectacular sunset and magic hour views. It is minimally decorated with all the amenities that make a stay comfortable and thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail that makes one feel at home.
Oikismos is situated in Ligoneri, which is 2.5 km to the north-west of the port of Dapia. It has a small supermarket that doubles as a café in its central square, a playground for toddlers and children, a ping pong table, a basketball court and a library with books and a selection of board games. Ligoneri beach, one of the island’s best beaches, is 500 m. from 219, down a shady path through the forest (a steep climb on the way back).
At Easter and during the summer months there is a regular bus service between Oikismos and the port of Dapia, with five bus-stops within its boundaries and several more along the way. Apart from the bus and regular taxis, especially for off-season visitors, renting a motorbike, scooter or electric bike is recommended.
The house is on two levels and equipped with all the necessary amenities for a comfortable stay. On the upper level is the kitchen with a mini refrigerator, a ceramic cooktop and oven, and the appliances and utensils necessary to prepare breakfast or cook a full meal. Outside the kitchen is the patio with a fitted shower to rinse off after your swim. Across the patio is the living room with two beds-sofas (80x200cm), each with its own fan, coffee table, dining table and chairs, Bluetooth music system, and a stand-alone cooler fan. The balcony has its own dining table and deck chairs.
On the lower level is the bathroom (with shower), a corridor with a large wardrobe that incorporates the washing machine (6 kg), a second mini fridge, and plenty of room for the guest's personal items and clothes. The bedroom has a king-size bed, a ceiling fan, a 55' TV set, an air conditioning unit (as well as individual fans for each bedside), an extra, single bed (70x200cm) and a smaller balcony with comfortable seating for two.
The two levels are connected via a staircase with two sets of seven steps each; the lower half doesn’t have a handrail but it has walls on both sides. The house is ideal for 2 adults, but the sofa-beds in the living room and the spare bed in the bedroom mean it can accommodate up to five. A family with up to three kids will be comfortable, so will a group of 3-4 good friends. The independent kitchen and the two balconies mean that early risers can prepare and have breakfast without disturbing those still asleep in the living room.
