About this property
Alps Villa, Stunning Lake&Mountain view, 3min walk to secluded beach, cyclepiste
Wake up to a turquoise lake view from your bed... breakfast on the terrace watching colourful parasailers and wing foillers glide over the lake among the lush mountains all around (some in the horizon with snow caps still!). You will be then torn between the tough choices of visiting the medieval Annecy Old Town canals and castles, a 40Km flat cycle around the Lake on an excellent cycle path (stopping nearby for the beach bar at the world famous Talloires beach), or strolling 3min down on foot to the shores of the secluded Glieres lake beach for an invigorating (and surprisingly warm) swim in the cleanest lake in Europe.
From scenic lake boat tours to water sports, impressive lake and mountain views everywhere you turn, grass beaches, history and art events dotted across all the lake's small villages (Doussard, Talloires, Veyrier-du-lac, Menthon St Bernard, Sevrier and more), Annecy has amazing options for everyone. The whole area is all about enjoying the outdoors and culture in every possible way. Activities include:
- Site seeing
- Cycling: serious and amateur
- Hiking : Le Mont Veyrier, la Tournette or le Cascade Angon
- Water sports include swimming, sailing, wind/wing/foil surfing, waterskying, diving, canoeing, rowing, kayaking, stand up paddle or just grass beach sunbathing!
(and multiple places to rent it all, which you will find in our guide)
- Paragliding: Forclaz mountain top scenic point take off
- Multiple mountains and trails to walk up and hike: Montmin (15mins), Mont Veyrier (10mins), Parmelan and La Clusaz (20mins)
- Summer sledging at the La Clusaz resort
- Adventure parks in Talloires (10mins) and Tamie (40mns)
- Cross country skiing, snowshoeing or sledding track from the family resort of Montmin nearby La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand (20mins); Seizures (40mns), 3 Valleys in winter
The villa is nested in a private gated development at a peaceful corner of the lake offering peace, safety and privacy away from tourist crowds, yet a short cycle, boat or car ride away for when you want to be amongst them. In Doussard village nearby you will find all you need from supermarkets, bakery, pharmacy, butcher, tabac-presse, etc. Golf and food aficionados will find two world-class golf clubs within 7Km, and incredible food and wine everywhere including eight Michelin-starred restaurants along the lake boasting fourteen stars between them (https://en.lac-annecy.com/webzine/the-michelin-guide-lake-annecy-bright-new-stars/).
Thankfully, the prospect of an afternoon of cocktails and a bbq on the garden watching the sunset over the lake is always alluring, and guests do make it back to the chalet for a super relaxing evening. You will be so close overlooking the Lake that you will never feel you had to be somewhere else. But do go everywhere else if you can!
Annecy is often referred to as "the Venice of the Alps" because of its charming canals, however this misses the point that - despite its appeal as one of the most beautiful destinations in France - this is a Town lived in, recognized as the best place to live in France for its quality of life. For this reason, it is vibrant and full of events all year long, not just in summer, as the ski resorts of La Clusaz and Grand Bornand nearby, Megeve and Chamonix get going in the winter. A flight just over 1.5h takes you from London to Geneva Airport, which is only 65Km door to door to the chalet door. Guests board 8:30am in London to be sipping a coffee at the terrace before 12:00.
The villa is surrounded by a large private loaned garden, with all around views of the lake and mountains. Built in modern chalet style, it is never hot inside with plenty of breeze, windows and natural light. It sleeps 9 people very comfortably, with 3 bedrooms (option for 7 twin beds or 3 doubles and a single), and a TV room/study with a double comfortable sofa-bed. Super fast optic fibre wi-fi is included, with good connection throughout the chalet and ample garden. One bath/shower room and one shower room (both with very hot water), plus two separate bathrooms. Dinning table for 9 inside, al fresco table on the terrace and seating areas inside, outside and the garden. You will have as much private and social space as you need for your family, even on a rainy day, always with stunning lake views from most rooms.
Decor is clean and minimalist, yet super comfortable: wide beds (90cm-wide twins, 180cm doubles), memory foam mattresses, freshly pressed white percale cotton linen, feather duvets and pillows, comfy throws, Egyptian cotton towels and everything you need in the kitchen from wine glasses to professional cooking pans will make this a comfortable and easy stay. Nearby you will find a range of supermarkets small and large, from Carrefour to Huit-a-Huit, as well as the Cuillere A' Omble seafood restaurant 5min walk, right on the Lake.
The space of approx. 180m2 is split into 2 levels plus a service area on the garden level, as follows:
