About this property
Cosy cottage with garden, just a five minute walk from stunning Polin beach
Beach Cottage, Polin sits 'at the end of the road', in the tiny hamlet of Polin, just outside the fishing village of Kinlochbervie. Stunning Polin beach is just a five minute walk from the cottage. The renovated cottage sleeps up to 5 guests.
Downstairs : a cosy sitting room with wood burning stove, well equipped kitchen with double oven range cooker, dining area, bathroom with large bath and shower over, bedroom with king size bed.
Upstairs : Twin bedroom, single bedroom and small shower room.
There is parking for two cars at the front of the cottage. At the rear of the cottage is a charming and enclosed garden, with an outbuilding where wet suits can be hung. There are wonderful views of the beach from the end of the garden.
The surrounding area is perfect for hill walkers, and the mountains of Foinaven, Quinag, Suilven, Cul Mhor, Ben Stack and many more are all nearby. Fishing permits for brown trout loch fishing are available locally.
Along with Polin beach, other beaches nearby include Oldshoremore Beach, Sheigra beach and the legendary Sandwood Bay, which is regulary included in the Top 10 list of best beaches in the UK.
Two well behaved dogs are welcome at the cottage, and the rear garden is fully dog proof and safe.
Bird watchers will enjoy the chance to see Golden Eagles and Sea Eagles, and the ferry for the bird sanctuary of Handa Island is a 20 minute drive from the cottage. The ferry is operational over the summer months.
Kinlochbervie has two cafes: the family run Quay House Cafe which serves delicious lunches and a huge selection of home bakes; a general store, hotel, petrol station, post office and chandlery. Evening meals out can be found at The Old Schoolhouse, Inshegra, The Edrachilles Hotel, Delilah’s in Lochinver, The Kylesku Hotel, while delicious and locally sourced food can be had from the Loch Clash Larder van nearby. Further afield in Durness there is the spectacular Balnakiel beach, Smoo Caves, a zip wire over the cliffs and the 18 hole Durness Golf Club, along with a Craft Village and ‘Cocoa Mountain’ Cafe.
