About this property
Historic Farmhouse set in a private & quiet rural setting, pet friendly.
La Maison Timmes is a historic farmhouse (circa 1700) sitting on the edge of a pretty village set in its own private 3 acres of rural countryside.
Surrounded by beautiful nature & WW2 history, there are many bird and animal spotting opportunities along with amazing dark skies for star gazing.
Set just 5 minutes drive from all the amenities of the famous & bustling Sainte-Mère-Eglise or Picauville and 20 mins from Carentan. The landing beaches, museums and war graves are all within easy reach.
In June 1944 a famous battle between the German and US forces took place here in what became known as "Timmes Orchard". La Maison Timmes was used as a regional command post with the neighboring property also set up as a field hospital by the Americans when the area had been secured after numerous days of fighting. There are original US paratrooper foxholes and plaques placed in "The Orchard" with bullet marks still visible in parts of the external walls.
