About the host
Hosted by Robert Kujda
I’m originally from Croatia, but I’ve lived and worked in Sweden for the last 35 years. Now I split my time between both countries – and Zarače is my heart. I built and maintain Casa Zarače Bay myself, so I know every corner of the house and garden. You’ll find my hand in the stone terrace, the pergola with lights, and the outdoor kitchen. I love building and carpentry, and I’ve put that care into making this a real home for guests. When I’m here, you’ll find me: • Walking my dog through the olive groves and down to Red Rocks for a morning swim • Diving in the bay – I know every underwater spot with the best fish and visibility • Picking rosemary, lemons and figs from the garden for guests I love the quiet life in Zarače. No clubs, no crowds – just nature, the sea, and good people. That’s why I moved back, and why guests return. I’m here if you need me, but I’ll never intrude. I live nearby and can help with restaurant tips, boat rental, wine tasting, or where to find the best snorkeling. If you want to be left alone with the bay, that’s perfect too. I speak Croatian, Swedish and English. Welcome to my favorite place on Hvar. I hope you’ll love it as much as I do.
Why they chose this property
Zarače isn ’t a resort. It’s one of Hvar’s last bays with no hotels, no beach bars, no jet skis. Just turquoise water, red cliffs, and 20 houses. In June & September, the bay is often completely yours. 2. 50 Meters to the Best Snorkeling Red Rocks Zarače is 50m from the house. Locals call it Hvar’s best snorkeling spot. 10m visibility in June, fish, sea urchins, and calm water. No entrance fee. No crowds. 3. Quiet Hvar – The Real Hvar 45 min to Hvar Town, but none of the noise. No clubs, no traffic, no taxi lines. Fall asleep to crickets and waves. Wake up to sun on the sea. This is the Hvar locals escape to. 4. June & September Beat July • June: 79°F/26°C, 73°F/23°C sea, empty bay, 40% cheaper than July. Best water clarity all year. • September: 75°F/24°C sea – warmest month. Harvest season. Sunset at 7:30pm. • July: Same sun, 4x more people, 2x the price. 5. A Real Village, Not a Tourist Strip Fig trees, olive groves, lemon trees, rosemary by the path. Stone houses with red roofs. Neighbors who say “dobar dan”. Shop for wine in Jelsa 20km away. Grill fish you bought at the harbor that morning.
