About this property
Bwthyn-Betws | Character Holiday Cottage With Mountain Views
This character holiday cottage with mountain views is a 17th century grade II listed property overlooking the mountains of Snowdonia. A wealth of original features including a large inglenook fireplace and the exposed oak truss have been preserved and add real character to this impressive holiday cottage.
Split into two cottages, this southern part of the farmhouse includes four bedrooms as well as a spacious lounge, snooker room and kitchen diner.
The kitchen diner has a lovely oak fitted kitchen with a lavish granite worktop sitting on the original stone flagged floor. All the appliances you could possibly need are included. Large fridge freezer, dishwasher and washer dryer as well as the usual oven, microwave etc. An oval dinning table at the other end of the room seats seven. Some authentic Portmeirion china adds a touch of luxury.
Next door in the lounge some comfortable leather armchairs and sofa face onto an impressive inglenook fireplace complete with log burner. As with a lot of older properties the windows set within thick stone walls are small but the views are breath-taking. Out over the fields of fresh pasture with the mountains of Snowdonia beyond.
On from the lounge we come to a spacious snooker room. The half size snooker table providing some great entertainment for all the family.
The bedrooms are split over two floors. On the first floor we have two double bedrooms one single room as well as a family bathroom with shower over bath. Dramatic pine panelling adds a sense of warmth and country living which is prevalent throughout the property. Both double rooms have impressive antique double beds although the mattresses and linen are naturally new and ensure guests have a good nights rest. The single room is smaller but perfect for children.
A further set of stairs (with limited headroom) leads to the master bedroom on the 2nd floor. This spacious double room has a more modern feel and houses a king sized bed under the remarkable oak ceiling truss. The bathroom next door has a large quadrant shower cubicle as well as wc and basin.

What makes this property unique
This character holiday cottage with mountain views is surrounded by a mature and well-kept garden in an idyllic country setting. A sunny patio area outside the front door steps down onto a large lawned area, which in turn slopes down towards the river Dwyfor. Surrounded by fields on all sides with only a quiet country lane acting as access, peace and tranquility is guaranteed. The banks of the river offering an idyllic playground for inquisitive children. Under parental supervision of course.
The pretty seaside town of Criccieth is about five minutes away by car and popular harbour town of Pwllheli and its boating marina is about ten minutes away.
These seaside destinations are a must for all guest naturally. (Don't forget to try the ice cream at ‘Cadwaladers' when you get to Criccieth.) But the real advantage of staying in this cottage is the fact that the mountains of Snowdonia are also so accessible. Snowdon itself is only a short drive away and the area now offers an abundance of activities for all. Centres for white water rafting, mountain biking and rock climbing are fast making Snowdonia the in place for adrenaline junkies.
More leisurely and cultural pastimes are also available naturally. The area is littered with historic monuments and castles. Criccieth is the nearest, with Caernarfon and Conwy castle all within an hours drive. The gardens at Bodnant are also well worth a visit for visitors to this character holiday cottage with mountain views, as are the art galleries in Llanbedrog and Llangefni.
