About this property
Barley Store - Countryside Barn Conversion
This thatched two storey converted stone barn has a well equipped kitchen with dishwasher, beamed living area with a Smart TV and a comfortable large corner sofa and dining area.
There is a bedroom downstairs with a double bed, ample storage and an ensuite toilet. Upstairs the barn has a spacious family bathroom with bath and shower over, a bedroom with large bunk beds and a third single bedroom.
"Barley was brought over to the UK by the Vikings in the 9th century. ‘Bere’ actually means Barley in Latin so the fields surrounding the farmhouse would have been barley fields. If you look carefully at the church tower you will see a Viking ship engraved in the stone".
Berehayes Farm was built in the early 16th century and was established as a holiday cottage complex in 1987. The complex is situated less than three miles from the World Heritage Coastline in West Dorset and close to the Devon Boarder.
The attached historic Farmhouse is one of the longest standing buildings locally with the now cottages historically having specific uses in years gone by. Each of the 8 cottages' names are attributed to the historic uses they had year previously in the 16th, 17th and 18th century.
All eight traditionally converted cottages are set around a delightful courtyard benefiting from their own outside space and access to our indoor heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi.
Berehayes is set in the village of Whitchurch Canonicorum, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the surrounding countryside is some of the most spectacular in Britain providing many fine walks. We are an ideal destination for family get aways, small group get-togethers, couples retreats and a base for walking enthusiasts.

About the host
Hosted by Host

Berehayes is a traditionally converted cottage complex. One priority during the conversion was to maintain and maximise the original features of these buildings.
As a result, each cottage has exposed brick walls, real wood beams, and in some cases metal work used during construction still on show today.
Berehayes is a welcoming and warm place to be where our ambition is that all visitors will wish to return again.
