NEIGHBORHOOD

Porta Romana is one of the most fascinating neighborhoods in Milan, located southeast of the historic center. Its name comes from the homonymous gate, a monumental arch built in 1598 to celebrate the triumphal entry of Margaret of Austria, future wife of Philip III of Spain. This neighborhood combines history, culture and modernity, offering a variety of attractions and places of interest

Places of Interest in Porta Romana

Fondazione Prada: Located in a former distillery renovated by architect Rem Koolhaas, it is a cultural center dedicated to contemporary art, with innovative exhibitions and a cinema.

Bagni Misteriosi: Part of the Franco Parenti Theater, this public swimming pool offers spaces for relaxation and cultural activities, transforming into an event location during the winter.

Rotonda della Besana: Baroque complex with a circular portico that hosts cultural events and a green area ideal for relaxation.

Porta Romana Market: Held every Friday morning between via Crema, via Piacenza and via Giulio Romano, offering fresh produce and local specialties.

Neighboring Areas and Points of Interest

Guastalla: North of Porta Romana, home to the Giardini della Guastalla, one of the oldest parks in Milan, with a baroque pool and large green areas.

Ticinese: To the west, known for the Colonne di San Lorenzo and the Basilica of Sant'Eustorgio, as well as a lively nightlife.

Porta Vittoria: To the east, characterized by the presence of the Palazzo di Giustizia and the Biblioteca Sormani, one of the main public libraries in the city.

Bocconi: To the south, home to Bocconi University, with an international student population and numerous cafes and bookshops.

This neighborhood represents a perfect synthesis between the charm of historic Milan and the liveliness of contemporary life, making it an unmissable destination for those visiting the city.

GET AROUND

Via Curtatone 2, located in a strategic position in the heart of Milan, offers a widespread and well-organized public transport network, ideal for moving comfortably both within the city and towards the main railway stations and airports in Lombardy.

Local Transport

Metro A few minutes' walk away is the Crocetta station of the M3 line (yellow), which represents one of the main connecting axes of the city. The M3 allows you to reach the historic center (Duomo) in just a few stops and, continuing north, the Milano Centrale railway station. Heading south, the line serves residential and business districts up to the terminus of San Donato, well connected to ring roads and motorways.

M4 Line (Blue): The new M4 metro, fully operational, represents a further added value for the area. Although there is no stop directly on Via Curtatone, it is possible to reach the Sforza-Policlinico station in a few minutes' walk, which allows the interchange between the M4 and the M3 (via Missori). The M4 connects Milan Linate Airport with the San Cristoforo FS terminus, crossing the entire city in just 30 minutes and serving key hubs such as San Babila (interchange with M1), Dateo and Forlanini FS (interchange with suburban trains) and Sant’Ambrogio (intersection with M2).

Buses and Trolleybuses

Numerous surface lines run along the adjacent streets. Among the most convenient, line 65 connects Porta Romana M3 to Vigentino; lines 91 and 92 form an external circular route that crosses the entire city and allow you to quickly and continuously reach various residential and business areas. Line 94, on the other hand, connects Cadorna with Darsena and Porta Vittoria. These lines offer regular and frequent service throughout the day.

Tram: The tram lines 9 and 12 are also located a short distance away, providing direct connections to important areas such as Stazione Centrale, Porta Genova, Porta Venezia and Viale Certosa. The tram is an excellent alternative to the subway for short and medium-range travel, with the convenience of traveling on the surface and admiring the city.

Connections with the Railway Stations

Milano Centrale: Reachable in about 10 minutes thanks to the M3 line (from Crocetta to Centrale), it is the main railway hub of the city, from which regional trains, high-speed trains and airport connections depart.

Milano Porta Garibaldi: Connectable via the M3 to Repubblica, where you can interchange with the Passante Ferroviario (S lines).

Milano Cadorna: From Crocetta, take the M3 to Duomo and continue with the M1 (red) to Cadorna. The station is important for regional and suburban trains and above all for the direct connection to Malpensa via Malpensa Express.

Passante Ferroviario Stations: Easily accessible also via the M4 thanks to the Dateo, Forlanini FS and San Cristoforo FS stops, ideal for reaching suburban areas and the Milanese hinterland.

Connections with the Airports

Milan Linate Airport: The connection is direct and rapid via the M4 line. From the Sforza-Policlinico station (reachable from Via Curtatone in a few minutes on foot or via the M3 via Missori) you can get on the M4 and arrive at the airport in about 12 minutes. It is the fastest and most practical solution for national and European flights.

Milan Malpensa Airport: It can be reached comfortably in about 50 minutes by taking the M3 from Crocetta to Centrale or Cadorna, from where the Malpensa Express trains depart, operating every 30 minutes.

Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo): Accessible with direct buses departing from Milan Centrale station. The journey, managed by several companies (such as Terravision, Autostradale and Orioshuttle), takes about 60 minutes.

In short, Via Curtatone 2 is located in a point perfectly integrated into the Milanese transport network. Thanks to the combination of the M3 and M4 lines, a wide range of trams and buses, and the numerous interchanges towards train stations and airports, the area guarantees rapid, efficient and comfortable travel both for daily needs and for medium and long-distance trips. An ideal solution for those looking for the convenience of urban mobility, without giving up the connection with the entire region.
