The reserve was formerly part of the Highcliffe Castle estate, and was named after a steamer boat which was present on the site in the 1800’s. Designated a nature reserve in 2005, the area preserves the natural woodland of oak and hazel, providing habitats for many species of flora, animal and birdlife, offering peaceful trails through the trees.
