About this property

The Bolthole - river views and dog-friendly home away from home!

The Bolthole is a fantastic two bedroom property in Fowey, with stunning views over the river. It's got a great location, in town and a perfect base to explore Fowey and further in Cornwall. Take in the sights and watch the boats go by from the front terrace, in the open plan living space or from your bedroom window. You can also relax on the comfy sofas by the log burner or enjoy peaceful drinks in the 'Mini Bolthole' your very own summerhouse with it's own electricity and wifi.

The Bolthole is a 150 yard walk from Caffa Mill car park and the cottage is elevated from the road, opposite the slipway so there are steps to navigate to reach the property. At the front of the cottage there is a terrace with seating and fantastic water views.

The open plan living space has comfy sofas, a log burner and a table and chairs for enjoying meals. There is a kitchen and a utility with all the amenities you needs, along with a stylish modern electric Aga.

To the rear of the house there is a back yard and then steel steps leading up the cliff to your private patio and the Mini Bolthole summerhouse with it's own indoor table and chairs.

Upstairs we have two bedrooms. The master room enjoys a king size bed and a large bench style window-sill, both providing spectacular views of the river. The second room is a double to the rear of the house and is a comfortable, cosy space overlooking the patio and summerhouse. Both rooms have a wardrobe and bedside tables. New windows were recently installed in the property.

The family bathroom is upstairs and has a deep bath perfect for a long soak with lots of bubbles and a shower is available over the tub.

We are located opposite the slipway and just 150 yards from Caffa Mill, making us the perfect spot to launch your kayak, SUP or boat - make sure you get your permit from Fowey Harbour first!

Please note that the entrance to the cottage is accessed by around 10 steep steps and the rear patio and summerhouse is clifftop and accessed via a metal staircase. the cottage is set over 2 floors.

The Bolthole is on Passage Street and does not have private parking. It is possible to travel through Fowey and pull up outside the property by the slipway for a short time in order to load/unload bags. Caffa Mill car Park is only 150 yards along the road. There are three long stay car parks in Fowey and you can get hourly, daily or weekly passes on their websites and apps.

You certainly won't go hungry while staying in Fowey with a wonderful variety of pubs, restaurants, cafes, ice-cream shops and bakeries! we also have Kittows as a deli, butchers and fresh produce and Johns an upmarket off licence with its own bar as well as the Royal British legion showing all sport.

There are also many hundred of miles of walks around Fowey and Cornwall that it's hard to know where to start..... the iWalk app can help but some of our favourites are the Hall Walk, the walk to Polkerris taking in The Gribben and Daphne Du Maurier's Polridmouth Cove or why not head across on the small passenger ferry to Polruan and walk to Lantic Bay or on to Polperro.

You can also take to the water hiring kayaks or boats from Fowey River Hire or head to the beach at Readymoney Cove with St Catherine's castle worth seeing above it. We also have Whitehouse Pool, a tidal pool close to the centre of Fowey, great for kids to have a safe splash about. It's here you can also get the ferry to Mevagissey for a day out and maybe spot some dolphins on the way! If you aren't lucky enough to spot one you can always visit the small aquarium in the centre of Fowey instead.

Further afield but still local there are the 13 Great Gardens of Cornwall, the closest being The Eden Project, Lanhydrock, Tregrehan and The Lost Gardens of Heligan.

And with Fowey as your base there are also many other gems to discover along the south east coast of Cornwall, Polperro, Looe, Charlestown (where they filmed Poldark) and Mevagissey are all great to explore.
