About this property

The Granary – Elegant Countryside Retreat

A breathtaking blend of history and modern elegance, The Granary is a beautifully restored 17th-century coaching inn offering a unique countryside escape. With striking architectural features, expansive garden views, and luxurious interiors, this home is a sanctuary for those seeking elevated living steeped in history and refined aesthetics.

Sleeping up to 10, the space is exceptionally spacious, with open-plan living areas and generous rooms designed for comfort, relaxation and shared moments.

The Space:
Enter through the beautifully landscaped garden into the striking entrance of The Granary, where double-height, floor-to-ceiling glazing floods the interior with natural light. The welcoming hallway, complete with practical boot and coat storage (just down the stairs), leads seamlessly into the heart of the home — a vast, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area designed for culinary experiences and entertaining.

Designed with both beauty and purpose in mind, the kitchen is effortlessly refined. A serene palette of earthy greens and natural wood finishes is elevated by a striking contemporary glass structure that frames uninterrupted garden views. Every detail has been carefully considered — from statement pieces to premium appliances — creating a space as functional as it is elegant.

Original beams crown the living and dining area, where ambient lighting and curated artwork provide warmth and texture. A restored open fireplace anchors the space, inviting cosy evenings by the fire. Just beyond, a few steps lead down to a snug — a sumptuous, cocoon-like hideaway perfect for quiet reading or film nights, layered in soft textiles and steeped in historic charm.

A discreet utility room and guest WC are tucked just off the entrance, blending convenience with thoughtful design.

Upstairs, the exposed brickwork staircase with bold black and timber detailing leads to the first floor, home to two beautifully appointed king-sized bedrooms. An expansive family bathroom provides comfort and style on this floor, complete with a walk-in rainfall shower and a bath, ideal for long, restorative soaks.

Continue up to the second floor and discover the family suite: an expansive king-sized bedroom with an adjoining room featuring a pull out daybed — perfect for younger guests or quiet reading. The en-suite bathroom is a true highlight, featuring a luxurious freestanding bath with sweeping sunset views across the garden and surrounding countryside, as well as a walk-in shower.

For those desiring additional privacy or space, The Granary includes a charming annex, sleeping two further guests. This separate retreat offers all the style and comfort of the main house and features a king-size bed that, like all beds throughout the property, can be configured as twins to suit your group. Complete with its own en-suite bathroom, the annex is an ideal option for grandparents, teens, or friends seeking a little solitude within the setting of a shared stay.

The beautifully landscaped garden features modern outdoor furniture and a BBQ area — an ideal setting for relaxing evenings or entertaining guests al fresco.

The Neighborhood:

Set in the heart of Welford, Northamptonshire, The Granary is steeped in history — once part of a prominent coaching inn dating back to 1647. It served as a key stopover on the London-to-Liverpool trade route, welcoming travellers, traders, and horse-drawn carriages from across the country.

Welford itself is a quintessential English village, where historic architecture and countryside charm meet a warm, welcoming community. You’ll local pubs, shops, and a 13th-century church nestled among peaceful lanes and rolling fields. Just beyond the village, the Grand Union Canal offers scenic waterside walks and a taste of slower living.

The Granary is conveniently located just 10 minutes from Kilworth House, making it the ideal place to stay for guests attending weddings or events at this venue.

For those looking to explore further, Welford is ideally located near Market Harborough, Rugby, and Northampton — each offering rich culture, dining, and heritage. Day trips to Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington Spa, or even London are easily accessible via nearby rail links.

Whether you’re here to reconnect, unwind, or explore, The Granary offers the perfect setting for a luxurious countryside escape surrounded by centuries of history.
