La Jolla is situated on the Pacific Ocean. Our house is a 10 minute walk from all the attractions. Along the dramatic coastline lies Scripps Park, where families can picnic throughout the summer, while enjoying Fourth of July fireworks and concerts under the stars. Just south of the park is the Children’s Pool, where a seawall was originally built to protect kids from incoming waves, but has been long taken over by a local seal colony. At some times of the year swimming is no longer permitted, but you can walk out along the seawall for a close-up view of the wildlife.
La Jolla is also home to Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institute of Oceanography and plenty of cultural attractions including the La Jolla Playhouse and the Museum of Contemporary Art, all situated in close proximity to The Village, and our house. The University of San Diego, which hosts the popular Geisel Library and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, are both located in La Jolla as well, a short car or bus ride up the coast from our house.
La Jolla's biggest draw for locals and visitors alike are the beautiful beaches. During the summer and autumn months, the surf is relatively gentle, with warm waters in 70s. Swimmers, snorkelers, scuba divers, kayakers and surfers can enjoy the golden sands of La Jolla Shores, the Cove and Windansea, all within walking distance of the house. And be sure to keep an eye out for migrating whales off the coast as they travel to and from Baja California.

Awesome house in the perfect location. Our family of 4 fit very comfortably and had all of thr amenities we needed. It was a short walk to the beach and had many dining options within 2 blocks. The host was very gracious, will definitely stay again.
We loved having the nice backyard for my toddler to play and grass for our dog. Rita was very responsive to questions and helped make sure we were comfortable during our stay.
Great little cottage only a few blocks from the water. Beautiful garden area for sitting and enjoying the sunshine. The cottage is in a perfect location, close to so many shops, restaurants and of course the water. We would definitely stay here again if we are fortunate to visit La Jolla again.
The cottage was warm, inviting, well stocked and within short walks of the beach, shops and restaurants. The main bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed. Our favorite amenity was the well landscaped backyard where we could enjoy a secure clean space to play with our dogs and enjoy the beautiful sunny weather.
The setup for our dog was excellent, she enjoyed both the front and back yards. The kitchen was well stocked, the home was cozy and the king sized bed was comfortable. It was an easy walk to the beach and the surf could be heard from the house in the early morning hours. The host was great, she responded quickly to our questions and was most helpful.
Older cottage, but fantastic location and well maintained. Worked great for 3 adults and our dog. The host, Rita, was very accommodating and communicative, would definitely stay again.
Clean home and we brought out dogs. Ocean view and it’s walking distance to restaurants. We had a nice time and would definitely come back. The host was easy to contact and super friendly.
House was perfect! The location was perfect to walk to the beach and to food (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
I would stay here again and suggest it to anyone looking for a perfect beach cottage.
We loved staying at Rita's cottage. She was a great host and we were very comfortable. It's located in a quiet residential area but you can walk within minutes to many great restaurants. We especially appreciated being able to walk to the Sunday farmer's market. It is 4 blocks from a quiet local beach and while it was a bit chilly for swimming we enjoyed sitting on the beach and watching the surfers.
Love the location for walkability to restaurants, stores and beaches. Cottage had lovely landscaping in front yard and yet allowed our pet.We also enjoyed grilling in the shaded back yard. This location allowed us to explore La Jolla.
We enjoyed our stay The location is wonderful. Property manager treated us well. The cottage is small and an older property but well run and in great shape. This is a do again for us
