About this property
Casa Milena - Holiday stone house with a private pool/hill view/peaceful
Welcome to the stone house of Milena!
This house, more than two hundred years old, preserves the stories of past generations, and Milena is most remembered – the woman after whom it is named today.
Born in 1918 in Nugla, Milena lived in the same house for 96 years, witnessing the changes of countries and borders, wars, and life's challenges. A widow and mother, she bravely raised her son, loved animals, cared for her family, and found peace in prayer.
Milena was tireless – she traveled by train between Trieste and Pazin, cooked lunch for the family every day, looked after her grandchildren, and cared for everyone around her. Her energy and dedication left a mark on the hearts of all who knew her.
Today, the house preserves the objects she used – sideboards, teapots, dishes – all of which tell the story of her life, values , and everyday strength. While you stay here, you may feel the whisper of the past and the peace of the fields she worked tirelessly.
Milena's granddaughter and her husband gave the house a new shine. In the house, you can enjoy two large and comfortable rooms, each with its own large bathroom, a rustic living room with a fireplace, and a kitchen, as well as a beautiful terrace overlooking the private pool and garden. There is also an above-ground trampoline for children in the garden and a grill area.
Not far from the house, there are quality restaurants where you can enjoy Istrian food. You can visit towns such as Hum - the smallest town in the world, Roč - famous for its Glagolitic script, Buzet - the city of truffles, Motovun, Grožnjan- the town of artists, and more.
Nugla is an ideal place for morning runs, hiking, and cycling because it is a place with very little traffic, as well it is ideal for free climbing and paragliding. Here you can rest your soul and renew your body. The hosts can organize truffle hunting, cooking workshops, relaxation massage in the house, a fresco workshop, various wine tastings and olive oil tastings, and guided tourist tours of cities in Istria. Only 40 minutes from Casa Milena is the famous Aquapark Istralandia.
