About this property

The Old Storehouse

Welcome to The Old Storehouse – a charming countryside retreat, ideal for families or small groups. Tucked away in a quiet hamlet that was once a thriving mining community, the house offers a unique blend of old and new – where traditional character meets modern comfort. It's a peaceful, off-the-beaten-track retreat where guests can truly unwind and soak in the tranquillity of the surrounding countryside. The Old Storehouse offers three comfortable bedrooms (one king, one double, and one twin), a fully equipped kitchen (including a double Air Fryer), a living room, and a separate dining area for relaxed meals and gatherings.

For a bit of fun during your stay, enjoy a game of pool on the full-size pool table – perfect for entertaining evenings in.

Outside, you'll find a peaceful garden with lovely countryside views – ideal for morning coffee or unwinding after a day out. Parking is available on the driveway at the front or along the quiet lane beside the property.

Dating back to around 1899, this charming property was once the home of the store manager who served the bustling pit village colliery, before the village itself was demolished in the 1970s. Although the original store was lost to a fire, the adjoining house survived and has since been lovingly restored by its current owners. Many original features have been carefully preserved, breathing new life into this historic home.

Despite its secluded feel, the property is just a short drive from local pubs, restaurants, and supermarkets, making it a convenient base. Whether you're a walker, a history enthusiast, or simply in search of a quiet getaway with a nostalgic touch, this beautifully restored home offers a memorable and meaningful stay.

There is a high chair and travel cot available at the property. Both of these can be requested at the time of booking. Please note that there is no bedding for the cot.
