About this property
Apartment with breathtaking views over Lake Como in a traditional Italian hamlet
Overview:
Immerse yourself in the serenity of a traditional, Italian hamlet, whilst enjoying spectacular views of Lake Como. Situated above the beautiful town of Bellano, which is approximately 10 minutes walk down and 15 minutes walk up an ancient path, you can easily reach the lakeside.
The well-known Sentiero del Viandante walking trail goes right through Ombriaco, so it’s a perfect spot for hiking.
Bellano Lakeview Apartment with two double bedrooms, a living room, kitchen-diner, bathroom and balcony, sleeps up to 6. So it’s perfect for families, friends, couples, hikers and mountain bikers.
Bellano is a vibrant town with bars, restaurants, a beach and many attractions, such as an ancient gorge, museums and galleries. It also has good transport links, allowing you to explore other beauties of the lake, such as Varenna, Bellagio and Menaggio.
Details of the apartment:
At 90m2, the apartment is spacious with a modern, luxurious feel, even though the property is over 400 years old. The thick walls keep the apartment cool in summer and the gas central heating keeps it snug and warm in the winter. The property has been renovated throughout 2024 and completed in 2025 with completely new appliances anbd furniture.
The master bedroom is very generous in size: easily accommodating its king-size bed, wardrobes, chest of drawers and bedside tables, whilst still offering a lot of space. There is also an armchair with foot-stool, enabling you sit back and relax - perhaps with a good book or simply to enjoy looking over the lake. This room is dual-aspect and has commanding views (whilst sat in bed) of the lake. The second window overlooks a quaint medieval alleyway.
The second bedroom has a double bed as well as a wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is also a chair that unfolds into a full-size single bed, allowing easy conversion for an extra guest.
With its large sofa-bed, the living room can easily convert into a third bedroom. Alternatively, use it as a family space, enjoying the internet television. You don’t have to miss your favourite series on Netflix or Prime whilst you’re abroad.
The kitchen is newly refurbished with a wooden worktop, double sink and drainer and new appliances. Well-equipped with a large fridge-freezer, microwave, dishwasher, whistling kettle, cafetière, crockery and cooking utensils, plus seating for six around a large table, it is perfect for hosting and entertaining friends and family. French doors lead onto the balcony with breathtaking views across the lake.
The modern, tiled bathroom has a toilet, a bidet, a large washbasin and a shower that offers the choice of large, overhead rose-head, or directional shower-head. There is also new, 6kg, Whirlpool top-loader washing machine, allowing you to pack light.
All rooms have mosquito blinds that can be pulled down whilst windows are open. The master bedroom, living room and French doors have well-maintained shutters. To ensure that everyone gets the chance to sleep in, the second bedroom has thick blackout curtains.
Once inside, the apartment is all on one level, making it easier to manage very young children. In the kitchen, we have plastic crockery and cutlery, as well as a high chair, which stands independently with its own tray. We also offer a baby bath, changing mat and a travel cot for infants.
Prints from local Bellano artist, Roberto Butta, decorate the apartment and provide inspiration of local places to visit.
Car parking is free and on-street and the nearest spots are under 50 meters from the apartment.
Guests have the whole and exclusive use of the apartment. There is also a rear terrace you can sit outside in larger groups. However, this is shared access with the holiday let above the property using this as a thoroughfare to have access to their property.
Points to note:
The apartment is 600 meters from the lake at a 134 meter elevation. It’s only a ten-minute walk to Bellano and the lake. Due to the elevation, the walk back up is approximately 15 minutes on a pebble mule track. The path is not suitable for wheelchair or pushchair access. However it is safe, well lit and pedestrian-only. The magnificent views at the apartment do come at a cost: the walk up is more challenging and takes enough time to help burn off the magnificent food served in many lakeside bars and restaurants in Bellano. Varenna is only a seven minute train journey away (the next station). Menaggio and Bellagio are easily reached from the ferry port in Bellano. Bellano is a beautiful lakeside town that maintains its traditional character and does not have the sheer volume of tourist traffic that Varenna, Bellagio or Menaggio have. Lakeside restaurants and wine bars tempt you to stay late into the night wondering at the magic of the lake. The town also has its own beach, lido with pools and cinema. During the summer season there are festivals, concerts and even open-air operas to fill your days and evenings without having to go far. You can even hire a speed boat from the harbour to tour the lake yourself or in a group.
