Located on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, Kirkbymoorside is a traditional Yorkshire village with independent cafés, antique shops and two lovely delis. The village has some walking trails from its centre, so bring your boots and follow the six-mile circular walk, through countryside, farmland, forests, and a lovely riverside setting via the charming village of Gillamoor.

A gorgeous property set over four floors where all the rooms have circular walls and beamed ceilings, and the stairs are steep and winding. The furnishings are stylish, and the attention to detail with the decor creates a welcoming feel. On the ground floor, enter the hallway and into the cosy lounge, which has comfortable seating to relax while watching a favourite film on the Smart TV. Twelve steps lead to the first floor, with a bathroom and a kitchen/dining room where you can rustle up family favourites. Another twelve steps and there is a double bedroom. On the third floor is a single room and on the fourth floor a twin bedroom with three windows so you always have a view! Children need to be supervised in this room. There is a patio garden with outdoor furniture and BBQ, which you can enjoy on balmy afternoons and evenings.

Helmsley (6 miles) is a lovely market town with a castle and Bird of Prey Centre. The market town of Pickering (7.5 miles) is situated at one end of the famous North York Moors steam railway, so hop aboard and head across the moors to the coast at Whitby, famous for fish and chips and Whitby Abbey. Kids will love a day at the theme park at Flamingo Land Resort (9.5 miles).
