About this property
1 Bed in Hay-on-Wye (oc-c29788)
For a restful solo trip or romantic holiday à deux, stay at this delightful barn conversion on the edge of Hay-on-Wye. The delightful Welsh town is known for its bookshops and lively cultural scene and is also the gateway to the Brecon Beacons National Park, opening up excellent opportunities for walking and cycling nearby without needing the car.
The barn has been thoughtfully renovated with original features still intact, such as the pretty wooden beams embellishing the cosy open-plan area. Here, large glazed doors allow in plenty of natural light, creating a welcoming space with comfy seating, a Smart TV and a well-stocked bookcase. Colourful soft furnishings and artwork on the walls contribute to a homely atmosphere. The kitchen has everything you need to whip up delicious meals and prepare treat-filled lunches for your days out. You’ll have the one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. Outside, the private patio presents a wonderful spot for relaxing in the fresh air as you soak in views of the mature fruit orchard and surrounding countryside.
You’ll have lots of shops, pubs and restaurants within 400 metres, as well as Hay’s weekly market (Thursdays) where you can pick up local produce. The Wye Valley Walk, a long-distance footpath, is accessible just 200 metres away. Go wild swimming at The Warren, a wild swimming spot 1 mile away, or stay (hopefully) dry in the relative safety of a canoe. If you’re up for a challenging climb, head up Hay Bluff and Twmpa (both around 6 miles) for breathtaking views and glimpses of local wildlife. History enthusiasts will enjoy visiting the mediaeval Hay Castle (500 metres).
