Walworth Castle Lodge was once the gate house of Walworth Castle, in the quaint village of Walworth, County Durham.
Sleeping up to 6 guests (and up to 2 well behaved dogs), this charming stone-built property is perfect for families, friends and couples alike, and enjoys its own private garden complete with hot tub and plenty of parking.
The Space:
Nestled in the 18 acres of the Castle grounds, the Walworth Castle Lodge makes a perfect base for exploring this stunning part of the UK.
All on one level, Walworth Castle Lodge makes an unforgettable first impression, with its stone exterior mirroring the style of the Castle itself. Inside, the Lodge is modern and bright, with high quality furnishings and fixtures, allowing you to enjoy your self catering break in style.
As you enter the property, you'll find yourself in a porch area with separate cloakroom/WC. Moving into the spacious interior, you will come to a large modern kitchen with all the appliances you could need, including a gas hob, built in electric oven, dishwasher, and a double width fridge freezer. The addition of a breakfast bar stools make it a great social space, not just somewhere to prepare meals. Just off the kitchen you'll find a dining area with plenty of space to all gather for mealtimes or even games.
The sitting room has a cosy feel with deep, comfortable sofas and a gas fire for those cooler evenings, and adjoining the sitting room you'll find the separate TV room, with French doors leading out into the garden. A bright conservatory/sun room opens off of the sitting room, with a sofa and games table; an ideal place for kids and adults alike to chill out.
There are 3 tranquil-feeling bedrooms for you to choose from. The first has a king-size bed, TV and an ensuite complete with spa bath, separate walk-in shower, basin and WC. The second bedroom has a double bed, and the third has twin beds. All the bedrooms feel spacious and have plenty of storage for your belongings during your stay, and there is also a separate shower room which has a walk-in shower, basin and WC.
Outside, you will find an enclosed garden with a large lawn, a patio area with dining furniture, and your very own hot tub to enjoy for your stay - the perfect way to relax after a day spent exploring!
Whilst staying at the cottage, why not pop across to the Hotel to enjoy an afternoon tea, a drink at the bar, or even treat yourself to a meal at the restaurant if you fancy a night off from cooking!

Lovers of the great outdoors will be right at home, with plenty of walking trails taking you through woodlands, hills and open countryside right on your doorstep; or a short drive away you can find yourself in the North Pennines AONB, where you will find more challenging hikes and dramatic scenery.
