About this property

Cosy private cottage overlooking Carlingford Lough at the foot of the Mournes

Wake up to sweeping views across Carlingford Lough, where the Mourne Mountains meet the sea and every window frames a postcard-worthy scene. This cosy cottage is perfectly positioned for those looking to unwind in nature or explore one of Northern Ireland’s most beautiful corners.

Step outside and you’ll find a quiet, pebbled beach just across the road—ideal for a morning stroll, a paddle, or simply sitting with a coffee as the tide rolls in. A short walk (around half a mile) brings you to Kilbroney Park, a stunning expanse of ancient oak woodland. From here, you can wander through the enchanting Fairy Glen, follow scenic forest trails, or make your way up to the iconic Cloughmore Stone, perched high above the lough with breathtaking panoramic views.

The charming village of Rostrevor is just moments away, offering a relaxed pace of life with welcoming cafés, traditional pubs, and local shops. It’s a perfect base for walkers and cyclists alike, with access to some of the best hiking and mountain biking trails in the region.

For beach lovers, expansive sandy shores await within a 20-minute drive, including those at Greencastle. From here, you can also hop on the Carlingford Car & Foot Ferry and take a scenic trip across the water to explore the Cooley Peninsula in the Republic of Ireland—perfect for a day trip filled with history, great food, and even more spectacular scenery.

Whether you’re seeking outdoor adventure or a peaceful coastal retreat, this cottage offers the best of both—comfort, charm, and unforgettable views in every direction.

Exceptional views from this double fronted bungalow. Situated in a beautiful part of Northern Ireland and very central for visiting areas of interest. We have recently stayed in 3 holiday places all very contemporary with good facilities and equipment. This house is comfortable and “old fashioned” but adequate. Efficient heating and nice open fire was most appreciated. Most helpful owner.
