It will serve as both your quiet sanctuary away from city life and a place to entertain. Large deck with skid-resistance Italian porcelain tile, cedar pergola and wrap around patio bench seating for you and your guests. Find easy access to beaches, local cuisine, farmers' markets and seafood shops. Savor the excellent restaurants or make your own home-cooked meals on the 5-burner Jenn-Air gas stove or outdoor gas grill. Full kitchen with all amenities including granite center island with stools; Electrolux Icon refrigerator/freezer, Microwave and Oven, Bosch dishwasher. There is a large capacity washer/dryer off kitchen. Lounge on the large, sectional sofa in the living room with gas fireplace. The house features 2 systems for central heat and A/C with Nest thermostats. Sleeping 8, the bedrooms consist of one King Bed in Primary Bedroom with en suite Carrera marble bathroom; 2 twin beds in 2nd bedroom with full bathroom, shower and tub and 3rd bedroom with comfortable, Queen sleeper sofa. A 4th Bedroom on lower level features a Queen Bed and home office. The lower level also features a kitchenette, living area and ping pong table. A half-bath is off the main kitchen and dining room. Play your favorite songs on 2 Sonos systems in the living room and pool deck. A T-shaped driveway provides ample parking for up to 5 cars. Available Memorial Day to Labor Day and off-season as well, bi-weekly, weekly or monthly. 7- day minimum rental.

Great house

Steve’s property was beautiful, super clean, and the pool was perfect. The house is very close to all the top Shelter Island spots. Steve was very responsive to us during our stay. 4 adults, 1 teenager and 2 9 yr year olds had plenty of space. I would absolutely stay here again.

Revival

This is a beautiful place with spaces to gather for good conversations or to work or read undisturbed. The kitchen is well designed and equipped; it has a great view of the pool and pergola. The back yard is a perfect place for croquet or other games. The host welcomed us with a delightful tour. The artwork and decor are well done. We were pleased by all aspects of our stay.

Shelter Island vacation

The house is perfect- tasteful design and original art on the walls. Steve is super helpful . The heated pool is well maintained. For us all went well- we loved our visit.

"This is for me," announced our grandfather in 1955, an avid fisherman from the city, pulling up the for sale sign on "tranquility base" and paying the ask for his patch of paradise. Three generations followed him here for its beautiful beaches, clean air, artist's light and small town feel. His descendants have lovingly restored and added to the original homestead, now ready for you, your family and friends to enjoy. Come slow down and fall in love with Shelter Island just as "gramps" did.

Why they chose this property

Enjoy a sense of space in multiple rooms with cathedral ceilings including 4 bedrooms, a 25-foot entry hall tower with travertine floor and 18-foot ceilings in 2 bedrooms. In addition, the five sliding doors between the pool deck and the living spaces provide an easy flow throughout. At dusk and at night, illuminate the patio with 10 pendant lights on dimmers. Turn on the pool light for swimming after dark. Interior designer lighting and modern fixtures provide a high end experience.
