Great location, beautiful home
We had a great time at this property. Conveniently close to downtown Maggie Valley. Kitchen was well stocked. Internet was a little slow due to being in the mountains but still usable. Cable worked fine. Good communication from property owners. Amazing views! . If you’re planning to use the bunk bed room, know that it is connected to the second King bedroom and does not have a door/it opens into a hallway adjacent to the kitchen. Also, you have to take the trash to the City Dump in Lake Junaluska. If you’re traveling East it’s on your way but if you’re going home to the west factor in extra travel time.

Nice Stay In The Mountains
We had a nice stay at the lodge. The trees and weather were beautiful. We were surprised and a bit disappointed to find there was no hot tub at the lodge even though it was listed and the owner has not mentioned it had been removed. That would have been a nice feature after long days hiking and with the cooler weather.

Beautiful house and furnishings, cleaning issues
Lots of positives about this property, but several negatives, too Positives: Inside furniture and particularly furnishings were excellent, high quality. Excellent linens. Beautiful location with mountain views and a small stream running at the edge of property. Excellent kitchen with every electric appliance known to man. Lots of dishes, serving utensils, pots and pans. All excellent quality. Lots of spices, condiments, flour and sugar, salt and pepper. Negatives: Internet terrible. Cannot watch anything without downloading it first. Cannot watch a video on YouTube, constant buffering. Even after shutting everything off except 1 television, still couldn't watch live, just be recorded over several hours to watch. Outside furniture and furnishings filthy. Deck covered in leaves. Yes it is fall, but it is obvious from the amount of leaves that the deck has not been cleaned in weeks. It was full of leaves when we checked in. Some of the pots and pans were dirty when we checked in, also, several too worn to use. Cobwebs and dirt in several areas inside. Has 3 fireplaces, could only get one to work. Instructions to clean lint in dryer, was full when we arrived Hair in bathroom sink Spider webs Broken pieces of glass in kitchen sink when we arrived Vrbo as well as owner communication say hot tub, couldn't find one. Found seps and filters from hot tub, but no hot tub. Lots of rules to follow and cleaning to do even though they charge you a $200

Great Views, Large Space
Pro's: Had amazing mountain and creek views - wow! Large in door and outdoor space. Cabin decor was nicely done. Would easily fit 3 couples and 2 older children in bunkbeds (4th room is small and a tandem to other bedroom). Professional kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need to cook. Outdoor grill was awesome. The hosts left very clear directions and we had no issues and enjoyed our stay. Very well maintained cabin. Highlight....we saw an elk crossing the road near the cabin one morning. Con's: The driveway is steeper than we expected and there is not a way to turn around the car at the top. We had a person outside directing the driver so we had no issues. As indicated in the description - wi-fi is 'sporadic' so you need to plan ahead. The hosts did have games and video's (-:

Relaxing vacation
We throughly enjoyed our stay in Bear Camp Lodge. The lodge is beautiful and so private. The view was beautiful and the sound of the creek flowing was so relaxing. Wish we could have stayed longer but certainly recommend this lodge if you want privacy, beautiful view and just want to relax. Cherokee is just down the road and Waynesvill is a short distance away. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your lodge!!!

About the host

Hello.....I am Anita and my husband is Tom.
Since I am originally from this area, my family spent every summer in the mountains of Western North Carolina. My Dad's job took us to Texas which is where I grew up. I knew from an early age I wanted a home here because Texas has 2 seasons.........hot and hotter!
Tom and I began searching for a comfortable home in 2015 which is when we found this beautiful place in Maggie Valley by a rushing creek and many Elk to watch and photograph! All of our neighbors and short term visitors are so nice and friendly! We enjoy spending time in Maggie but we have a business right out of Houston, Texas which takes up a lot of our time. So, when we cannot be in Maggie Valley, we want to share our beautiful home with you!
We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

We chose this property because it is on the side of a mountain with a beautiful rushing creek and mountains all around us. It's just so soothing to sit by the creek and enjoy a cup of coffee with no sounds of the city!

What makes this property unique

This location is up on a mountain which is nice and only 25 or 30 minutes from Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrahs Casino there. Soco falls is very near and we are very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway for sightseeing!
Maggie has restaurants, shopping, festivals, and great people!
Waynesville has large grocery stores, lovely specialized boutique shopping, craft breweries, and wonderful restaurants nestled in and around town.
