Welcome to the historic St. James Boat Shop. Established in 2017, our shop continues the legacy of craftsmanship started by Dan Burton and his family. Since 1985, we have specialized in creating handcrafted cherry wood boats and buckets. If you have any questions or need assistance planning your trip to Beaver Island, we are here to help. We can assist with arranging tours, travel, rentals, and event planning, as well as provide valuable advice for an unforgettable vacation experience. Perfect place to stay - walkable to town/food

We had a great stay at The Boat Shop! The location can’t be beat, walkable to local shops, food and a beautiful view of the harbor. Definitely recommend staying here!

We hadn’t been to Beaver Island in over 30 years. We came because we always loved it here and we still do. Our stay here was perfect- we loved bicycling & new E-Bikes! Dan was super friendly in Boat Shop and his wife as well!

Great Place close to the ferry beautiful views from the balcony

My sister lives on the Island and I have not seen her for 2yrs so It was a pleasure seeing her and a pleasure staying at this property. Everything was so clean I will make sure to stay here again in the summer.

Nice property and beautiful view. Very clean and enjoyed the stay. A lot of steps going up to the room. If your elderly it may not be the right place for you.

We had a wonderful stay here at this rental. It was very clean and comfortable. It is also in the perfect location and has a beautiful view of the water. Carol and Dan were extremely friendly and nice. We really enjoyed talking to them in their awesome boat shop store downstairs. We definitely hope to stay longer next time!

Brought my dad over to Beaver Island for Father's Day - his first visit. This apartment/condo is all brand new! I think we may have been the first to stay. Clean, fresh, and spacious. Beds were super comfy with soft linens and nice pillows Deck overlooking the lake was huge. Love the location being right next to the grocery store, and the Dalwinnie Bakery & Deli which is prefect for breakfasts and lunch. Town is walking distance if in decent shape. My older parents had a hard time with that as well as the steps to get up to the second floor. Owners are the nicest people, and even let me borrow her car to run to the gas station after the grocery store was closed! Upon arrival, she picked us up at the ferry dock and gave us a quick tour of the town area. They own the boat shop below, and make some awesome stuff, so be sure to stop there as well! I will most definitely stay here again on my next visit!

Dog waste

Theey rent to people with dogs and no garbage can to put dog waste in. We were told yo dispose of it in are kitchen garbage. Which we were not going to do so everyday sometimes twice a day we had to go to the beach garbage cans and dispose of the waste there. Also only one sharp knives and toaster didn’t work and this wasva full kitchen. And one bedroom didn't have a screen. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were flat and old. Bath towels were very thin .

We loved the apartment. it was very cozy for the 4 of us. It was easy to get around town, everything was close. We did need a car to go around the island to do some sight seeing.We had a great time. Would definitely stay here again.

cute place on Beaver Island

We loved our time at the Deckhand's Quarters! We had an extra day before starting our week at a cottage, and this was the perfect place to stay! Next door to a great restaurant and the grocery store... right on the harbor... The apartment was clean and cute and comfortable. Thank you for having us!
