Communication from the host was very limited. Upon arrival, accessing the property felt like a scavenger hunt, the lockbox location was unclear, and even the maintenance person was unaware of its location. The lockbox was eventually found secured to a fence on the opposite side of the building from the listed address. Fortunately, it was not raining, but this would have been a frustrating experience in poor weather.The apartment itself was clean; however, the furnishings and amenities were very minimal. Several items that many guests would consider standard household essentials were not provided.When questions were sent to the host, the responses consistently referred back to the listing rather than offering helpful guidance. For example, when asking about missing kitchen items, the response was: “Regarding the kitchen, the property is equipped with the basic cooking utensils described in the listing. A toaster, ice maker, or ice trays are not included amenities and are not advertised as part of the property.”The responses lacked the hospitality and flexibility expected from a vacation rental. A good rental experience requires more than meeting the minimum listed amenities, it requires clear communication and attention to guest expectations.We booked and paid for five nights but chose to leave after four nights due to the overall experience. Unfortunately, I would have difficulty recommending this property. VRBO also has an opportunity to better educate hosts.
