Itinerary for a Week in Southern Utah
Day 1: Check into your reserved place, hit Walmart or Costco for food for the week. If you opted for Costco, maybe think about watching the sunset from Dixie Rock at Pioneer Park (Red Hills Parkway, St. George, Ut). Be sure to visit the Red Hills Desert Garden before sunset as well. You will pass it on your way into the parking lot, and this place is really cool because a lot of the plants are labeled which makes for a great introductory education to Southern Utah. I’d recommend a Café Rio (pork barbacoa salad) dinner before sunset, and a cement ice cream from Nielsen’s Custard after.
Day 2: Zion Narrows! We like to rent bikes on our way into the park We load them on the free Zion shuttles in groups of 2-3 and meet up again at the Temple of Sinawava. We park our bikes in the bike rack and hike to the Narrows (this is an easy walk on a mostly flat, paved 1-mile trail). Once the trail ends, we change into water shoes and hike as far as we can (usually 2 miles with kids on a warm day). I pack blow up water floats in my backpack for the kids and let them float down. This is a kids paradise, where they can climb rocks and splash water. Please note that you do not need a permit to hike up the Narrows from the Temple of Sinawava.
We ride down to the Zion Lodge and have lunch. After lunch, we continue down the road, and at Canyon Junction, we navigate onto the official bike path. Feel free to let the kids stop and play in the river. We end our ride at the Visitors Center near the Watchman Campground. Sometimes we do the ride down twice a day.
Day 3: Zion’s Angel Landing! I recommend doing this hike because the views are just breathtaking, and it is a Zion classic. This is best as a couple's date or for kids older than 12+. This hike is 5 miles roundtrip and starts at the Grotto Trailhead. Don’t leave Zion without going through the tunnel! Park your car off the side of the road and run up Checkerboard Mesa.
Day 4: Bryce Canyon National Park! Don’t miss the Hoodoos! You need to hike under them to really see what they are all about. My favorite trails are the Navajo Loop and Queen’s Garden Trail. You can see a lot from your car, so drive to the end of the road and back again. Be sure to spot the arches near Natural Bridge and Hole In The Rock Road.
Day 5: Explore Sand Hollow on a Maverick Side By Side! Ask the ranger to explain how to find the tunnel and drive through it and explore the area. We love the trails and the different rock formations. If you want to see Sand Hollow from the water, feel free to rent a boat for a day. Many people call Sand Hollow a mini Lake Powell because it has rocks you can jump off and just looks a lot like parts of Lake Powell.
Day 6: Grand Canyon, North Rim! The roads are small, so I recommend traveling both ways in daylight. There is a scenic lodge at the North Rim that has a great menu. The rocking chairs on the patio have spectacular views, and this is a place you could just sit for at least an hour.
Day 7: Snow Canyon & Tuacahn are local gems. One of my favorite Southern Utah hikes is the Lava Flow Trail at Snow Canyon State Park. I pack headlamps and glow sticks for my kids, and enjoy the geology along the way. The trail comes across an open lava tube with a natural staircase into an open cave. This hike is 2.5 miles roundtrip.

I am so glad that the kids loved the upstairs loft! Happy to hear that you took time to explore the amazing amenities! So fun! You are welcome to come back anytime, thank you for being a fabulous group!
We had a great experience at this property. Our kids loved the toys and bunk beds! We were quickly able to get ahold of the owner when we had an issue (unrelated to the house, we just couldn't figure out the lock :) ) and we had everything we needed for our stay and more.

Michelle, I am glad that your family enjoyed the space! That lock is a little tricky because you have to turn the deadbolt when the lock releases. I'll go over my information and make sure that is very clear. :)
We love coming to St George to be in the sun and play. Being with family is great and making memories is the most important

I’m so glad that your group was comfortable. Hooray for the kids that enjoyed the heated pools!
Perfect gathering for family. We had several of our adult children and their kids join us for a few days. Easy access to activities around the St. George area. The kids loved the two pool areas and switched back and forth between them. Nice quiet neighborhood. Plenty of room in the main level to use the kitchen and dining area. It was a bonus that all of the rooms had their own bathroom/shower. We all had a great time.
Loved this house! Dana was great to work with on any minor issues we had. The hot tub and roof was amazing. Well stocked kitchen, amazing play room for the kids. Perfect location right in between both pools and pickle all courts. We had a great stay!

This was a great place. The family room/kitchen was great to be able to gather the whole family around and eat and talk. It was a great location. Close to a grocery store for stocking up for our crew. The host was very responsive to a couple questions we had. The hot tub provides a great view of the stars. It was fantastic.

It was a great place to stay - the pool was perfect and the proximity to Tuacahn was awesome. We had a great time! It was great for all ages! Only suggestion would be to have the AC turned down a bit more upon arrival. It was 77 when we got there which is too warm for us :-).

We loved this rental. King beds in every room with a bathroom. Very clean. Lots of things to do.
We love St. George and were so excited to find this rental. It was very roomy, clean and great for a few families. We loved that each room had a big bathroom and king size beds. It was very clean and the pool was awesome. The owners were very easy to work with and were very responsive. We accidentally left items and they were prompt to ship them back to us. We hope to visit this location again.
We had an amazing stay at Paradise Village. The house was beautiful and had all the amenities and conveniences to make our vacation smooth and relaxing. Dana was great to work with - responsive and helpful to all our inquiries. The views from the balcony upstairs were breathtaking. We were located five minutes from a grocery store and about twenty minutes from the city which offered so much to see and do. Highly recommended! Would rent again!

This property was perfect for our getaway to St. George! We went with 2 other families and had 7 young kiddos (under 6) and we all had a blast! The castle bunk beds were a huge hit! The water park was amazing and the included amenities were super convenient. The house had everything we could possibly need. Dana was very responsive and super helpful if we ever needed anything. 10/10 would recommend and we may even come back and visit again!

Thank you for being wonderful guests! I enjoyed hosting your group!
This property was fantastic. It was extremely clean and well organized. The information was up to date and correct with all the activities available. The two beautiful pools in the community were clean with lot of seating. We played pickleball and volleyball and had a wonderful time. There were only 12 of us instead of the 16 we planned on so it was plenty roomy, and would have worked easily with 16 too. The large kitchen was well stocked and labeled which mad it easy to find things. An all over wonderful place to stay and I would come here again in a heartbeat.

Thank you for being a wonderful group! I sure enjoyed hosting your large family & am so glad that you enjoyed the space & the many amenities! Please come again!
We book a home at Paradise every year for a “start of summer bash!” And this has been our favorite house yet and we have stayed in many. Location is amazing, right in between both pools with tons of parking nearby.
The home was perfectly clean and well kept but not too “done up” that we felt like we had to police our children the whole time. VERY kid friendly with an amazing loft area with great toys and game, the castle bunk beds were a huge hit. Home was clean, super organized and had everything we needed. Tons of space and very well thought out for exactly what you would need.
Pack n plays in every room for babies as well as so many fun toys/pool items in the garage. The sleeping mats were helpful as well!
The only hiccup we ran into was having the wrong code for the door at checkin and that was easily remedied with a quick call to Dana.
We actually text her after checking in to see if we could book another night we were so impressed and loved it so much. We can’t wait to go back!!

I am so happy to hear that the place was so well utilized by your group! I am glad that your group was well accommodated & that you enjoyed all the Paradise Village amenities. The housekeeping staff works hard & long to ensure the space is clean & I will pass this review onto them. Thank you & come again!
Our family had an amazing time at the condo. It is a spectacular location- minutes from Tuacahn and Snow Canyon as well as around the corner from the nicest Harmons I’ve ever seen. The toys available are so thoughtful and family friendly. We had so many pool toys (although we couldn’t find the noodles in the picture- but we had the wagon and so many inflatables! We had pickle ball set and were 60 second walk to the large park for bike riding/pickle ball and a longer walk to the amazing playground in the park. The condo is centered between the two amazing pools- 1-2 minute walk either direction!
Our children loved the kids loft- it kept them so entertained and sleeping well.
The only thing I would change would be we would have loved to have a throw or two while watching tv and instead we used a couple of extra comforters.
Thank you for such an amazing place!

I am so glad that your group loved the place, and that you took time to enjoy the amenities closeby! I ordered a big box of pool noodles, so there will be plenty of floaties + colorful pool noodles. I do have extra blankets, and I have asked housekeeping to make sure they are where guests can easily access them. :)

Awesome pools! We loved this place!! Loved the patio and hot tub! Beautiful kitchen!
We had a great time. There were A Lot of people at this complex over Memorial Day so it was very busy. We had some issues with people parking in front of us in the big parking lot where we were keeping our trailers with RZRs.
The pools were awesome, but I got a little annoyed with the woman going around and kicking people out or getting mad at people for having food in the pool area. Which ok, I get it, there is a sign that says no food. However, we could buy her food she was selling in the pool area. If it’s not food than all food. Just my opinion. She was very rude to my sister in law who was giving her 2 year old some goldfish. He’s 2. . .
Other than that we had a great time!

Hey Leslie,
I contacted the pool management regarding your issue, and they did say that they would talk to the people working in the pool area. Here is the response:
Dana,
I am very sorry to hear that your guests felt they were treated rudely at the pools. The rules need to be enforced but in a respectful manner. I will reach out to the manager of the Sand Shack to discuss the situation.
Please give our apologies to your guests for the unpleasant experience they had with the employees. I know it can be hard sometimes to find that balance between maintaining the safety and cleanliness of the pool, while also making sure the guests are treated well and have a great experience at the pools.
Thank you for reaching out about this concern,
Paradise Village HOA Management

About the host

My family and I love to escape to St. George, Utah as much as possible! We live in San Diego, CA and look forward to spectacular hikes in Zion National Park!
Matt is a Software Engineer and I am a Health Coach, and full-time mom to our four kids. We all enjoy hiking, biking and the great outdoors!
A family must-do is the Narrows! We love this hike because of the breathtaking scenery. In the summer we all walk right up to the Virgin River and have races floating back down. Another favorite is bike riding in Zion National Park. We load bikes on the guided tour bus, and ride to the top (Temple of Sinawava) and take our time coming down. It's an awesome ride for kids because the only traffic is the park buses!
Why they chose this property
Admittance to all the amenities is included for you and your guests when you stay at this property, and that is what sold us! This includes the two-tiered pools with slide, water park, kiddie pool, clubhouse, work-out room, play areas, green space, walking trails, RV Parking, & gorgeous views! Paradise Village is a first-of-its-kind Vacation Home Village and its location couldn't be any better! Our vacation home has a prime location in the community located next to Gubler City Park with brand new Pickle Ball courts and endless amenities. Our community clubhouse is fully furnished with a top-of-the-line exercise room and outdoor fireplace area. We purchased this home because we love the red rocks and warmer weather that St. George has to offer. St. George is very family friendly, and we enjoy the local restaurants and parks.
Visitors flock to St. George for it's proximity to Zion National Park with its breathtaking, unique landscapes and variety of outdoor pursuits. The park attracts visitors from around the world for its incredible hiking, climbing, & canyoneering. The park is divided into four main sections: (1) Zion Canyon with Court of the Patriarchs, Emerald Pools, Angel Landing an Riverside Trail, (2) Kolob Canyons for its scenic drive, Taylor Creek and Kolob Arch, (3) Kolob Terrace with the Subway and great backcountry trails and (4) Highway 9 which includes the Tunnel, Canyon Overlook trail and Checkerboard Mesa. Many of the trails can be hiked year-round. Winter months can be icy but the routes remain accessible. Spring is a wonderful time to hike here as the streams have been enlarged through the winter and create wonderful waterfalls. The park also provides fantastic climbing and canyoneering and biking. There are also a variety of off-road driving routes. Or hire horses and discover this area the way the original inhabitants did. The views remain almost unaltered since the beginning of time.
