A few years ago, I had friends visiting who worked long, exhausting shifts - early mornings on-site, late finishes, weekends away from home. I remember one evening, one of them sat down on the sofa, let out a deep breath, and said:

“This is the first time all week I’ve actually felt relaxed.”

That moment stayed with me.
Not because the house was perfect.
But because it felt like someone had thought about them.
Fresh towels exactly where they needed them.
A proper night’s sleep after a long shift.
A quiet, calm space where no one was asking anything from them.
That’s when something clicked.

It Became Personal
I realised hosting wasn’t about keys or check-ins.
It was about creating that moment -
the “ahhh…” when you walk in after a long day,
the “this will do nicely” when everything just makes sense,
the feeling that someone has already thought about what you need before you even ask.
So I started designing each stay around real people:

Why We Chose Sunderland
When we first looked at Sunderland, it wasn’t just about property.
It was about people.
We spent time here, walking the streets early in the morning, grabbing coffee near job sites, watching crews head out for long days — construction teams, engineers, contractors, professionals all working hard, often away from home.
And one thing stood out:
There weren’t enough places that truly cared about where these people stayed.
Plenty of options, sure.
