What an awesome “tiny” home -- comfortably situated in the countryside with cows as neighbors! Peaceful watching them graze from the 2 Adirondack chairs in the back yard. Full size fridge and stove for those that like to prepare their own meals. Otherwise, Constableville is a hop skip and jump away. Boonville is close by too. Freddy’s (the former Ted’s) is open 7 days a week and the Boonville Hotel serves all day! For a bit more adventurous, Kayuta Drive in is just up the road on Rte 12, featuring food and great ice cream too. Boonville has the Black River Canal Museum, asks for donations as an entrance fee. Erwin Library is something to see, great old building. We traveled to Utica, where you can take the Adirondack Scenic train to Old Forge and beyond, travels to Tupper Lake is expected later this fall or early Spring 2023. We did the layover in Thendara (Old Forge) Saranac Brewerly (formerly Utica Club) is also located in Utica near the train station. A trip to Rome via 26 took us by the “Milkplant” for an awesome lunch in West Leyden, then traveled to the National Monument of Fort Stanwix; free. Learned something more about the local context with native Americans. Some great old buildings and churches to explore were nearby. And if car travels are in your adventure, going to Speculator or beyond takes you through the Adirondack Park. Dan was great as a host and responsive to any questions you may have. Remember though, it’s a small house, and loft bedroom access is via a ladder stair! It could prove challenging for some! Other than that, it is in the country and a great change of pace! The visit was very much what we sought.
