About this property

Villa in Lake Bolsena with 5 bedrooms sleeps 18

Villa Stella, Bolsena
A private countryside retreat nestled between the light of the lake, the Umbrian hills, and the traditions of Italian family life
Villa Stella is a private residence designed for guests who seek the freedom of a country home, the atmosphere of an authentic Italian estate, and the serenity of a stay dedicated to slow living, family time, and outdoor togetherness. Located in the Bolsena area, nestled between the gentle lakeside landscape, the borders of Umbria, and the cultural charm of Orvieto, the villa seems suspended between the water, the stone villages, the olive groves, the gardens, and the long summer evenings spent outdoors.
This is not a villa conceived merely as a place to stay. Villa Stella is a place to live: to cook, gather, read, swim, light the outdoor oven, sit by the fire, share a glass of wine under the trees, and let the days unfold at a more leisurely pace. It is particularly well-suited for multigenerational families, groups of friends, retreats, intimate celebrations, and guests seeking a home with soul rather than a purely formal luxury property.
The property was designed with space, comfort, and accessibility in mind. One of its most important features is the presence of areas that are easily accessible by wheelchair. There are no obstacles from the parking lot to the entrance, and the gardens—including the pool area—are also accessible. Inside, the ground-floor master bedroom, kitchen, study, and living room are wheelchair-accessible, allowing guests with limited mobility to naturally participate in the rhythm of the home.
The ground-floor master bedroom is particularly important: it features an entrance wider than 81 cm, an accessible bathroom with raised fixtures, and a barrier-free shower. Upon request, this room can also be configured with two single beds, making it suitable for various guest arrangements. This makes Villa Camilla a thoughtful choice for families or groups where comfort and mobility are essential, without compromising the charm of a private Italian villa.
The interiors are cozy and lived-in, with the kind of homey atmosphere that encourages guests to feel at ease right away. The living room is designed for long conversations, pre-dinner aperitifs, quiet afternoons, and evenings by the fireplace. The kitchen is not just functional—it’s a central part of the living space, a place where the morning begins with coffee and bread, where local ingredients find their way into simple meals, and where culinary experiences can become an integral part of the vacation itself.
The study offers a quieter corner, ideal for those who need a moment of privacy, some time to read, or perhaps a break from remote work during a longer stay. Throughout the house, flowers in the bedrooms and living areas add a delicate and personal touch, reinforcing the feeling of being welcomed into a home rather than a hotel.
Outside, Villa Stella is at its best. The gardens are tended to throughout your stay, the pool and surrounding area are cleaned daily, and the outdoor spaces invite guests to move seamlessly from swimming to reading, from meals to cooking and relaxation. The pool is open from the first weekend in May to the last weekend in September, making the property particularly appealing from late spring through early fall. The villa also provides firewood for the fireplaces, the outdoor oven, and the bonfire—the latter available in compliance with Umbrian regulations on open fires.
Villa Stella has a strong culinary identity. The stay begins with a generous welcome basket, which includes breakfast essentials: milk, yogurt, eggs, fruit juice, sliced bread, butter, jams, cookies, packaged croissants, coffee, and tea. Also included are three bottles of wine and mineral water, which give guests an immediate sense of welcome. This is a practical and elegant touch, especially for guests arriving late or those who prefer not to rush to the supermarket on their first evening.
The rental price is based on 12 guests. Additional guests can be accommodated up to a maximum of 21 people, with a supplement of €65 per person per night. Final cleaning is not included and is charged at €430 per stay. Additional cleaning during your stay can be arranged at a cost of €20 per hour. Heating, if needed, is charged at 40 € per day. A security deposit of 400 € is required upon arrival. Electric car charging is available at a cost of 10 € per charge.
Included in the price: bed linens and towels, soap, shampoo, and conditioner, essential kitchen items such as oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, and herbs; daily cleaning of the pool and surrounding area; garden maintenance; electricity and water; firewood for the fireplaces, outdoor oven, and hearth; flowers in the bedrooms and living areas; as well as a welcome basket with breakfast essentials, wine, and mineral water.
The house rules have been designed to preserve the quality of the property and the comfort of all guests. Air conditioning is available only in the bedrooms. Orvieto’s tourist tax must be paid in cash upon arrival at a rate of €2.20 per person per night. Smoking is permitted outdoors, provided guests use the ashtrays provided, but smoking is not permitted in the bedrooms. Pets may be accommodated free of charge upon request, subject to the property’s approval and provided they are well-behaved and pose no danger to people or other animals. Parties are permitted only with the property’s prior approval and must comply with standard rules of civil coexistence. The use of disco equipment is not permitted, and unregistered additional guests are not allowed to stay. Friends or relatives may visit for the day or evening only with the property’s prior permission.
Dining Experiences at the Villa
One of the most delightful ways to enjoy Villa Camilla is through its dining experiences. These are informal, local, sensory, and deeply Italian moments. They are not intended to be formal haute cuisine events, but rather generous, convivial rituals around the table.
A standout offering is the pizza night in the garden, featuring pizza baked in a wood-fired oven. Guests can enjoy bruschetta with tomato and basil, bruschetta with local extra-virgin olive oil and garlic, bruschetta with eggplant and a mix of olives, white pizza with olive oil and rosemary, pizza with spicy or sweet salami, the classic Margherita with tomato, mozzarella, and fresh basil, pizza with potatoes, cheese, and rosemary, and a simple pizza with tomato, basil, and olive oil—with anchovies, oregano, and hot chili peppers added upon request. Roasted vegetables such as bell peppers, zucchini, potatoes, and onions round out the spread.
In the evening, a staff member will be on hand to tend the fire, while guests can enjoy the process right in front of the oven, watching the pizzas bake and be served in a relaxed, self-service atmosphere.
Children up to age 6 eat for free and pay only for the drinks they consume.
Pizza and Pasta-Making Experiences
For a more interactive experience, Alessandro, the villa’s pizza chef, is available to lead pizza-making classes. This is one of the most fascinating experiences at Villa Camilla: informal, hands-on, family-friendly, and perfectly in tune with the surroundings.
The pizza-making experience begins around 10:00 a.m. with preparing the dough in the kitchen. Around 1:00 PM, the dough needs to be kneaded—a task Alessandro can handle on his own if guests are out exploring the surroundings. Around 4:00 PM, the outdoor oven is prepared. At 5:00 PM, the ingredients are laid out: vegetables, potatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella, anchovies, herbs, and any other ingredients chosen for the menu. Around 6:30 p.m., the pizzas are ready and are placed in the oven, ready to be enjoyed around 7:30 p.m. or 8:00 p.m. Dinner time can also be postponed if guests prefer to eat later.
Alternatively, it is possible to organize a pasta-making experience. The nominal cost is 200 € in total for all participants. The dishes are left ready in the kitchen, and guests can choose to dine in the garden or in the main hall.
Waitstaff service can be arranged at an additional cost: 20 € per hour for lunch and 30 € per hour for dinner service.
Tailor-Made Experiences with Camisa Essential
Thanks to Camisa Essential, Villa Camilla can become the centerpiece of a broader journey to discover Lake Bolsena, Umbria, Lazio, and Tuscia. This is a region that rewards curious travelers: less crowded than Tuscany, more intimate than the classic Amalfi or Roman itineraries, and rich in food and wine, nature, and historic towns.
Camisa Essential can arrange dinners with a private chef, additional meals at the villa, food and wine pairings, advance grocery deliveries, celebratory dinners, informal barbecue evenings, private transfers, local drivers, guided tours, and tailor-made day trips.
A private day on Lake Bolsena is the first suggestion that comes to mind. Guests can enjoy the lakeside towns, swimming spots, relaxing lunches by the lake, and—depending on availability—private boat trips or excursions on the lake. The lake has a more tranquil pace than the sea: calm waters, volcanic landscapes, fishing villages, and a sense of timelessness.
Orvieto is one of the area’s must-see cultural experiences. Camisa Essential can organize a private guided tour of the cathedral, the medieval center, artisan workshops, wineries, and underground passages. The experience can be paired with an Orvieto Classico tasting, a leisurely lunch at a traditional trattoria, or an off-hours itinerary for guests who prefer a more curated and less touristy experience.
Civita di Bagnoregio, one of the most picturesque hilltop villages in central Italy, can be visited on a half-day or full-day excursion. The tour ...
