About this property
Architect Hideaway Between Heath & the North Sea
Set within the protected landscape of Tranum Klitplantage, HIRA is an architect-designed house surrounded by nearly 3,000 m² of private natural grounds, with uninterrupted views across the dune heath.
From the living spaces and all three bedrooms, the landscape stretches out across heather, gorse, juniper and pine. There are no roads or neighbouring houses in sight. Just the heath and the changing light. Here, the landscape feels like the house’s largest room, and the wind, light and seasons set the pace.
Designed by Rasmus Bak of Baks Arkitekter, the house draws on Japanese building traditions and Scandinavian architecture. Its simple lines deliberately give way to the landscape, while black Shou Sugi Ban-charred timber, Douglas fir, natural stone and Harris clay tiles bring warmth and texture inside.
Terraces on both sides extend the house into the landscape, giving you places to follow the sun or find shade and shelter throughout the day. Red deer regularly wander across the heath directly in front of the house.
Within just a few kilometres, the landscape changes completely. To the west, Tranum Strand meets the North Sea with wide sandy beaches and marram-covered dunes. To the south, Fosdalen and Lien unfold through old beech forest, streams, wooden bridges and steep green slopes, while trails through heath and pine forest connect it all.
Four electric bikes are waiting at the house, making it easy to explore without getting in the car. Cycle for breakfast at a local micro-bakery, head to the beach for a swim in the North Sea, or ride through the landscape before lunch at Svinkløv Badehotel.
Or simply stay exactly where you are. HIRA was designed to make that feel like enough.
