A gorgeous Cumbrian country retreat, this unique hideaway nestles within an impressive, Grade II-listed mansion. Sleeping eight guests, it encompasses four bedrooms and is one of three luxurious holiday homes within the historic building at Armathwaite, 10.5 miles from Carlisle. Lace up your walking boots or hop on the saddle and venture straight out to explore the magnificent Eden Valley. Armathwaite itself is known for the five faces carved into the sandstone cliff. Venture about 5 miles from the property to find yourselves in the picturesque North Pennines or 12 miles to the fringes of the Lake District National Park. You can plan a day out of the local Carlisle to Settle Train line which stops at Armathwaite or a day out to Ullswater, 18 miles away, where you can take a steamer out on the water or hire your own rowing boats or canoes at Pooley Bridge. Keen walkers might also like to follow a section of the 20-mile Ullswater Way along the shores of the lake. There is are also two golf courses close by in Brampton and Penrith.
Approach the property via a private electric gate and driveway. Unload in the parking area and walk up to the front door through your private garden. Make your way inside to discover sophisticated, two-storey accommodation, with many luxurious touches. From the wide reception hall, turn left to enter the well-equipped kitchen/diner, where you can unpack any groceries you have brought with you. With features such as two ovens, a wine fridge and a coffee machine, you will be able to cater for your party with ease in this superb space. There is a long central island with a breakfast bar, where you can chat over fresh coffee or a bottle of cold white wine pulled from the chiller. Wander on through the house to the spacious dining room, where you will gather at the long table for your grand feasts during this special stay. Also at ground-floor level is your splendid lounge, where there is ample comfortable seating for everyone to spread out across. Light the wood burner in here and settle down to a game of charades or a gripping film on the Smart TV. There is also a WC downstairs. As the sun sets on Cumbria, climb the ornate staircase to your sumptuous super-king-size bedrooms. One of these boasts an incredible en-suite bathroom with a stylish copper bath, as well as a shower, and another has an en-suite bathroom with a modern free-standing bath. The other two rooms have chic en-suite shower rooms. Three of the bedrooms have zip-and-link beds that can be made into twins if discussed at booking.
Step out into the summer sunshine of your private area of the extensive shared garden. Relax in the seating area or set the table for dinner under the stars between 1st April- 30th September when Garden furniture and BBQ is available. Wear one of the soft robes provided and prepare to soak in the hot tub. Guests are also welcome to wander the beautiful, shared, landscaped grounds. There is private, off-road parking for five cars. There is a refundable security deposit of £400 to be paid directly to the owner prior to arrival.
