About this property
4 Bed in Middleham (oc-c34754)
Enjoying a peaceful location in the quiet hamlet of Caldbergh, this delightful family retreat makes an idyllic base for walkers and nature lovers exploring the magical Yorkshire Dales. Situated within the beautiful surroundings of Coverdale, The Forbidden Corner is just 2 miles north, a popular folly providing a fantastic family day out. Heading north-east, the bustling town of Middleham (3 miles) is known for its proud horseracing heritage and for the historic ruins of Middleham Castle, once the home of Richard III. The area offers miles of peaceful walks, with local attractions including Aysgarth Falls, Jervaulx Abbey, Thorp Perrow and Druid’s Temple, all within 15 miles. To the north, the cheerful market town of Leyburn (5.5 miles) has some charming places to eat and drink, while Richmond (14.5 miles) is home to a Norman castle and the Green Howards Museum.
Entering this stunning hideaway, the main hall has impressive flagstone flooring, timber ceiling beams and underfloor heating, with a relaxing wood burner offering a warm welcome. A door leads through to the main lounge, a characterful, bright and comfortable space with a Smart TV, ample seating and another wood burner. A couple of stone steps lead down into the spacious and fully equipped kitchen/diner with AGA, with stone floors and underfloor heating, and featuring a large farmhouse-style dining table and separate sofa and window seating perfect for a family get-together. From the kitchen, one stone step leads up and through into a cheerful snug which has a Smart TV and a sumptuous L-shaped sofa. Also from the kitchen, four stone steps lead down to the handy utility room with a WC, a stone shelved cool larder and a separate pantry for recycling boxes and stores. Going upstairs, the first floor offers a choice of four tastefully decorated bedrooms each with a traditional beamed ceiling: there are three cheery super-king-size rooms (two of which can be made up as twins) and additional a cosy twins. From one of the super-king-size rooms a few steps lead down into a stylish en-suite shower room. The property also features two elegant bathrooms. Please note some of the first-floor rooms have low sloping ceilings, and the property has a number of internal steps.
Heading outside, the enclosed walled garden has a charming terraced area with ample outdoor furniture and a BBQ, providing a lovely spot for dining alfresco and for taking in the beautiful views across Coverdale. A few steps lead down to a sweet lawn. Off-road parking is available for three cars.
