Located at Slettostølen in Hemsedal is this log cabin from 1954, the first to be built here on the Sletto farm’s mountain pasture. Log walls, original features, and the patina from the time of its construction give it an authentic character that is rarely found in newer cabins.
The cabin consists of two connected units: the older section, featuring a large living room, bedroom, and kitchen, and an addition from 1998 with a TV room and two bedrooms. An entryway and a bathroom with a sauna were added in 2013. The large fireplace is original and features a motif from Ibsen’s *Per Gynt*, and the walls are adorned with paintings and artifacts such as the moose from Østerdalen and the reindeer buck from Hardangervidda.
Outside, there is a simple terrace with patio furniture and an open courtyard. In the summer, horses from the riding center a few hundred meters away graze here, and a stream runs through the property.
Skogshorn (1,728 meters above sea level) can be climbed directly from the cabin in a few hours’ walk, offering views of the Hemsedal Mountains and toward Jotunheimen. The valley to the east offers trails and mountain lakes for fishing; Storevatn has trails and bike paths leading to Golsfjellet; and the Hemsedal Ski Center is just a short drive away—both in summer and winter.
