Gorgeous shepherd’s hut: romantic, rustic, the perfect place to rest.
Our beautiful shepherd’s hut sits on the edge of a peaceful Somerset valley, surrounded by rolling hills. Romantic, rustic, and immersed in nature, it’s the perfect place to unwind and walk. Yet you’re just minutes from the historic market towns of Sherborne and Wincanton, with Sherborne Abbey, two castles, and only 50 minutes from the ancient city of Bath.
The shepherd’s hut is your own peaceful retreat, surrounded by fields, incredible walks and open skies. We hope you’ll slow down, switch off, and enjoy the tranquillity.
Outside you’ll find a fire pit, which also doubles as a barbecue. If you’d like to light a fire or cook over it, just let us know and we’ll happily provide some varied firewood and firelighters for a small donation of £8.
The nearest toilet is our downstairs loo, just a short walk from the shepherd’s hut and easily accessible at all times.
For washing, you have two options. If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re very welcome to use our outdoor shower, which is particularly lovely in warm weather. Alternatively, you’re welcome to use the shower inside the house, which is shared. Simply choose whichever you prefer and we can tell you more about how each work.
If you’d like recommendations for country pubs, restaurants, scenic walks, National Trust properties or hidden local gems, we’d be delighted to point you in the right direction. Just let us know if there’s anything in particular you’d like to see or do.
One place we especially recommend is the beautiful historic market town of Sherborne, just a short drive away. With over a thousand years of history, Sherborne is home to the magnificent Abbey, founded in AD 705, the romantic ruins of Sherborne Old Castle built by Sir Walter Raleigh, and the elegant Sherborne Castle with its landscaped gardens designed by Capability Brown. Wander its charming streets and you’ll discover independent cafés, excellent restaurants, antique shops and beautiful architecture at every turn. It’s one of England’s finest market towns and well worth exploring.
