About this property

Beautiful Cabo Matapalo off-grid beach home close to the Corcovado Nacional Park

Custom built home on a beautifully landscaped parcel a short walk from the ocean. This is a two story solar powered home that has a master bedroom, guest bedroom, a large master bath (with solar hot water shower), a professionally equipped kitchen, a living room area and a large wrap around covered deck. In 2021 a deep and refreshing dipping pool was added to the deck area. The pool is perfect for kids to play with supervision and has a large bench area to sit in the water and have a beverage of choice watching the monkeys pass overhead. Upstairs has an open floor plan with a large yoga space, a king size bed, a roll out queen bed, a sofa bed, and a full bath. The upstairs also has a covered deck hammock area, an open air space for viewing the night sky, and both a sofa bed and a roll out queen bed that can be used to accommodate larger groups. All of our mattresses are of high quality to ensure a great nights sleep. The home is located in the center of the property and offers living fence privacy and abundant wildlife viewing. Four species of monkeys can be seen from the comfort of the hammock. All types of birds visit the various fruit trees daily. The gardens are mature with fruit and herbs and foraging is encouraged. We also have a smaller guest house on the property to support a larger group or multi family party. Ask about that if needed.

I come to the Osa Peninsula in 1996 as a backpacker/surfer traveling alone. I found a spot I never wanted to leave and stayed full time for about 5 years. Over time I bought in 2003 land and built a home in 2007. I live between northern California and the Osa peninsula. I feel lucky that I did all of this at a young age and am happy to share my experience with others.

Why they chose this property

The Osa is a beautiful wildlife sanctuary unlike any other place on earth. I constantly hear from travelers that this is the best place they have gone in all of their travels. I have to say... I have traveled to many parts of the there truly is no place like home. My house is a creation that I built with the help of some wonderful friends. It has a special feel and is inviting. Its a little oasis in the jungle that has the finer things of modern living with the jungle outside the doorstep.

What makes this property unique

This area is a modern convenient home surrounded by wildlife and jungle. Steps away from the beach and immersed in nature. I built the home for comfort in an open air setting. There is an excellent solar system and wifi throughout the house. You are in the jungle but with the modern conveniences of home. It is off grid living at its best. We are adjacent to a large nature reserve so wildlife is abundant. Many guests have commented that they see as many or more animals from the deck than they did going into the Corcovado.
