Nice location if your primary interest is fishing.
If you are looking for a place to stay w the guys this is a good option. If you are looking for a higher end place for you and your spouse, this may not meet your expectations. .
We so enjoyed sitting both inside and outside watching the bird life in the canal and in the neighborhood. The decor of the home is appealing and we had all that we needed. Communication with our host was very good. We would stay again!

This little lake cottage was perfect for my family. We were in town for my nieces wedding and Valerie was so sweet. Her home was warm and accommodating and had everything we needed to be happy and comfortable during our stay. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you!

Barbara it was great hosting you and getting to meet you and your family! We love to hear you enjoyed your stay! We’d love to have you back anytime!
We loved how quiet it was...this is truly a get away from everything. The house was like living in an IKEA showroom...so much fun. The owner was super responsive and really helped us get into the property (we had some tech issues) the only negative was the showers needed some updating but we loved the kitchen.

Several of my friends and I stayed here while visiting KP Hole. A bit of a drive due to our poor planning but it was nice to ride around in northern Florida. Beautiful property, very clean and the owner was very responsive and helpful with anything I inquired about. Will be back for sure!

great getaway
I loved how active the host was on getting back to me and informing me about the property, however the cleanliness of the master bedroom was not where I thought it would be. I understand people miss things but please do a walk through because for the money it should be worth the stay. However it was a beautiful location and lots of action on the water with wildlife. The neighborhood was nice an so were the neighbors !
We were impressed by the photos of the house and area but were pleasantly surprised to find the house even nicer than those images. The town this property is in, Lake Panasoffkee, is a quiet community, what one might call “The other Florida” free from crowds and traffic.
We were completely comfortable during our stay and felt the owners truly had focused on the needs of the renter. It was great having two full baths, a beautiful sunporch, and a well-equipped kitchen. There were many nice touches throughout.
One of the other highlights, though, was living right on a canal, immediately adjacent to the lake. We saw more wildlife here than in a national wildlife refuge nearby: anhingas, herons, hawks, ibises and a turtle made their appearances. On several nights, we even heard a barred owl. This is a wonderful, peaceful place for nature observers!

Awww, thanks for the wonderful review, Peter! And, so glad you and Sharon enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure meeting you both! And, I forgot about the owls! Aren't they the coolest! We've been hearing more lately! We look forward to your next visit! Blessings to you both!
The interior was lovely and met the definition of Modern Fish Camp. The cottage was very clean inside and had most everything needed except a can opener which the owner brought as soon as requested. Dishes and glassware were in a corner cabinet not well organized but there were more than enough coffee mugs. The glass enclosed lanai could use a good scrub of the window tracks. Also the shed where the folding outdoor chairs were stored had just old plywood covering the opening where a door once hung. Entry to the house was via an app that might be a challenge for older, non tech savvy renters. Overall we felt we made a good choice in choosing this property despite its few shortcomings.

Thanks so much for your review Barbara and letting me know about a few things that may need to be addressed. Sometimes its the little things, like can openers that get broken or misplaced, and we aren't aware until someone is looking for it - so I appreciate you letting us know so we could replace it asap.
And, my apologies for maybe not making it clear, but I am nearly always available to let guests in remotely if they prefer not to use the app, and then we have a set of keys inside to use during your stay.
Glad you enjoyed your stay overall and hope you'll visit again sometime.
lovely little home in a super quiet neighborhood. they did a great job updating this little 1960s traditional florida home. so glad they left the walls of windows in the florida room- we spent a lot of time sitting in that space - watching the birds flit around the backyard, frogs jumping into the water and little alligators swimming by in the canal behind the house. this trip, we brought our canoe, and although we could’ve launched from the backyard, we decided to go over to marsh outlet park, which was barely five minutes away. if you take a left at the boat ramp, you can paddle down the inlet to the lake without much traffic. great birding day on the lake too -loved seeing anhinga and osprey catching and eating fish, lots of white egrets and ibis along the banks. we only saw a couple of alligators and turtles. overall, a really great place if you’re looking to get away for a weekend, slow down, and relax. host was really nice, communicative, and made check in super easy. thanks so much!

Excellent sleeping experience. Recommend upgrades to bathrooms; a new refrigerator or adjustment to the door; addition of a washer and dryer unit; and a dock. Nice home stay concept. You have done well with your smart improvements to the Property. Thank you.

Thank you for your review and letting us know you appreciate what’s been done at the house. And so glad to hear you slept well. We do have great mattresses in all of the rooms. :)
Regarding your suggestions, we do have a full size side by side fridge with built in ice maker and water machine that looks great and works perfectly, and no need for it to be replaced. The doors just need to be closed completely to avoid the door alarm notifying you a door is ajar. We’ve put all new tile in both bathrooms, new vanities and toilets and fixtures and paint as well. While there are a couple things left to do to update it completely, we went with what we had to work with within our budget making sure everything is always well taken care of and clean. I’m sure you would agree it looks just like the photos we show on the listing.
As for the washer and dryer, we simply don’t have room for them and fortunately there is a great laundromat about 2 mins from the house and we do provide laundry detergent :)
We completely agree, a dock would be wonderful....we’re hoping to add one one day!
Glad you enjoyed your stay!!
Valerie
We really enjoyed the views from the home. It sits on a canal and is one house away from the lake. The home was very clean and comfortable for the most part. I was not comfortable in the master bedroom, the king size mattress could be updated. There is a great view off the kitchen table area. It would be nice if there was a covered patio space for sitting outside.

So glad to hear you enjoyed your stay Suzette. And we’ll make a note about the mattress and look into it - it’s the first we’ve heard of it so may just be a personal preference but thanks for letting us know.
Great you got to enjoy the lake, it’s so very serene and peaceful there! Let us know if you’re back in the area!
About the host
Hosted by Valerie Bogle
I'm a Florida native, I own a photography studio where I love reminding girls of all ages how beautiful they are. In addition, I love living in Florida! As a kid I spent many vacations going to Lake Panasoffkee to escape our busy while that's been so many years ago - I love that not much has changed there, and it still offers the same relaxing and charming feelings it did so many years ago - and I'm excited to get to offer such enjoyment to others.
Why they chose this property
Like I said..I grew up spending vacations on the Lake, and it feels like home. Somehow it has escaped the commercialization that has happened in so many other cities. Its still a place you can go and feel like you can disconnect from it all - and yet still be close enough that you have those options if you want them. The house is on a canal - only 1 home from the beautiful lake itself - so you can see it as soon as you drive down the street. You can hear the birds chirping, and even yourself is such a welcome change. I think it offers a chance to get away, enjoy Old Florida, and have a chance to disconnect from all that occupies us on a daily basis. And, its all only a few minutes off the interstate - so is so convenient for so many.
What makes this property unique
Its on the water - so bring your fishing poles, your kayaks, your canoes, etc! Within a few paddles you're in the main body of the lake, which is quite large with plenty of areas to explore!
There's plenty of room to spread out, a nice size kitchen to cook in, and plenty of other excursions to experience nearby.
