Magical open air Lodge for couples and nature lovers, away from busy hotels. Plunge pool and sun deck with views over the Pitons and Caribbean Sea. The Lodge is set in a private corner at Cosmos St Lucia - see separate listing for the Villa at Cosmos St Lucia. Positioned approximately 100' from The Villa, The Lodge is not overlooked, nor does it overlook the Villa. The Lodge can be rented independently for just two guests or it can be rented together with the Villa, allowing for a maximum of 16 guests in total on the property.

The extraordinary location and stunning modernist architecture set Cosmos apart. Designed for open air living, the indoor and outdoor blends seamlessly in this magical place where mountain, sea and sky meet. Enjoy hummingbirds feeding, lizards darting among rocks, the sunset song of tiny tree frogs and a canopy of stars that seems close enough to touch, untainted by light pollution. In the vicinity are rainforests, hot springs, botanical gardens, glistening seas, beaches and protected coral reefs. Unsurprisingly, The Lodge is frequently booked for honeymoons and special occasions.

Facing southwest to the Pitons, the sunset and the Caribbean Sea, The Lodge invites peaceful contemplation. Enjoy a queen size bed draped with mosquito netting that doubles as a sofa by day, two comfy armchairs, a walk-in closet, locally made wooden furnishings and a kitchen bar. The kitchen has a full sized fridge with freezer and is adequately equipped for self catering with a four burner hob, electric oven, toaster, blender, coffee maker and utensils. The water supply throughout the house is filtered. The outdoor bathroom is completely private, but fully open to the elements - and the gorgeous view. Below the plunge pool there is a sun deck with two loungers overlooking the mountains and the sea.

Daily housekeeping and homemade continental breakfast is included (the banana muffins are legendary). Picnics, lunch, and dinner are also available, with meals served in the privacy of The Lodge. Our menus focus on locally sourced, seasonal produce; guests describe meals as both delicious and healthy - see guests reviews, don’t miss out!

ECO LUXURY
The experience at Cosmos is only sustainable by being mindful of the environmental footprint on this beautiful island. The Lodge is cooled by two ceiling fans and the natural breeze thanks to its position high on a ridge, but is not air conditioned. As with all things in life, sustainable luxury is about striking a new balance. This is just one aspect of how we tread a lighter footprint at Cosmos - see the eco luxury blog post on our website for more.

Don’t miss the best fresh fish burgers at the Jungle Grill at Anse Mamin. The famous reef off Anse Chastanet is easily accessible from the shore, and has been buoyed off for snorkeling. There is a vast variety of corals and sea life including sea turtles, parrotfish, trumpet fish, needlefish, sergeant majors and many more. Join the locals at Hummingbird Beach Park in Soufrière, dotted with bars, gift shops and food shacks, just 10 mins away. There are Scuba operations at both these locations. Paradise Beach, at the foot of the Petit Piton 15 mins away, has excellent snorkeling and watersports, a cocktail bar and serves casual meals on their open-air terrace. Both the the vegetarian and fish rotis are recommended. Take a short water taxi from Soufriere town to Sugar Beach, a five star retreat with multiple restaurants, shops and a white sand beach with an excellent snorkeling area. There is a charming souvenir market and locals making food on the public beach beside the hotel.

About the host

Hosted by Anastasia Alexander

Host profile image
American born, lived in France and then England since 1990. Now a U.K. citizen.

Anastasia first visited St Lucia in 1994. She returned many times - enchanted by the island - and purchased the land at Cosmos in 1996. She nurtured her dream to develop the property over the next 15 years, finally breaking ground in 2012. The Villa welcomed its first guests in 2016.

With a career in natural botanical products, Anastasia now focuses on running Cosmos, teaching yoga and designing gardens. She lives most of the year in the English countryside, growing vegetables and cooking like a fiend - escaping to sunny St Lucia when the days get short in England.

Why they chose this property

Amazing location that I fell for when I first visited the island in 1994. The villa was designed by a modernist architect and is energy neutral with a solar system supplying as much electricity and hot water as we are using and collecting annual rainfall in a vast cistern.

What makes this property unique

Exceptional facilities and outlook. This is the most prominent Piton view in the area., close enough to the water edge without the noise, high enough to catch cooling breeze, convenient enough to walk to the beach and close enough to neighbours for security whilst far enough for privacy. Many options in how to enjoy your stay living indoors and outdoors simultaneously.
