Our cabin has a meaningful history. It was originally listed on VRBO before the Spring Fire of 2018, which sadly claimed our first home. Since then, extensive fire‑mitigation efforts have been completed throughout Forbes Park, and we have rebuilt Hummingbird Hideaway with safety and resilience in mind. We kindly ask all guests to follow current fire restrictions to help protect this beautiful area.
Inside, the cabin is designed for comfort and flexibility. The upper-level master bedroom features a cozy king bed, while the main level offers a comfortable queen. The lower level includes two additional bedrooms, each with a full-size bed, and we provide air mattresses for extra sleeping space as needed.
The spacious, fully stocked kitchen includes everything you need for your stay: a gas range, full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, and blender. Additional amenities - such as a gas grill and a washer and dryer - make longer stays even more convenient.
To keep you comfortable year‑round, the cabin includes a wood-burning fireplace and radiant heat for cold-weather months, as well as a mini-split air conditioning unit for warmer days. Entertainment is also well-covered with premium streaming services available on televisions in the main living area, the master bedroom, and the lower-level family room.
Step outside, and you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking views of the nearby 11,000- to 14,000‑foot peaks. Enjoy unforgettable sunsets from the main deck, watch the local wildlife wander through the park, or take advantage of the many outdoor activities nearby - hiking, fishing, hunting (outside Forbes Park), or exploring local gems like Great Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls, the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad, Blanca Peak, and the charming towns of Fort Garland, Blanca, San Luis, La Veta, and Cuchara.
We hope you’ll love our little home away from home as much as we do. We would be delighted to welcome you to Hummingbird Hideaway!
