We had a wonderful stay! The property was beautiful, just as described and we loved having a fire pit and being able to walk around and see the river. Our cottage was beautiful and clean and had everything we could want. We would definitely stay here again, it was close to town but far enough away for privacy and peace and quiet.
Cute little cottage on the river in a lovely little town. The kids loved the pool, we all enjoyed s'mores at the fire pit. The staff members we met were pleasant and cheerful. Would stay here again.

We enjoyed our off season stay at the end of September. The house was exactly as pictured. We needed help figuring out the TV remotes and they were very helpful to get us set up. We enjoyed the cozy fireplace. We hope to come back again with some family members.
We had a change of plans and decided to go to Alex Bay last minute. There was only one night available by the time we booked but wished we could've stayed longer! The cottage was adorable and we loved the decor. The view was beautiful as well. We also brought our two dogs and it was so nice to walk them around the grounds. Would stay again a million times.
If you have the opportunity to go to the Ledges, do it!! The Ledges is immaculate, staff super friendly & helpful. The groundskeeper made sure everything was in working order & always replenished the wood for our fire pit. A must have to sit and watch the amazing sunsets. Can’t wait to go again.
I could not have asked for a better place to stay on my first solo vacation. The location was perfect, close to everything I wanted to experience on my trip. The cottage was absolutely spotless, and yet it felt so cozy. The bed was clean and comfortable. the shower was AMAZING, the kitchen had everything I needed to make meals at home. The hosts were also just a text away and responded promptly. I truly have nothing bad to say about The Ledges, I would recommend at stay here to absolutely anyone. I hope to come back some day!
We had a very enjoyable weekend in the Heron Cottage at the Ledges resort. It was close to town with a view of the river. The beautifully landscaped grounds and a fire pit (wood supplied) at each cottage was a big plus.
Nick and Amy were friendly and helpful, and clearly care about the experience of the people who rent from them. Everything you could need was provided, including firewood! Chris and other employees were equally as nice and hospitable. Will definitely be coming back, hopefully ASAP!
Exceptionally friendly and clean. Just one suggestion - Maybe a cabinet in the bathroom so I could have unpacked my toiletries. Loved the shower. I would stay there again and have already recommended it to family and friends. They certainly went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed, from shampoo to fire wood in the fire pit. A home away from home!!
The Ledges Resort & Marina is such an amazing property and the location couldn’t be any better. The Heron Cottage is just adorable—plenty of space for me, hubby and 3 dogs. It has modern amenities but with such charm inside and outside. That picture window, c’mon – how fantastic! We appreciated all that was provided such as linens, cooking supplies, comfortable bedding and coffee. The simplest little things really make a trip special. Nick and Amy were so kind and very responsive to our questions as we planned for our time there. What more could we ask for? It felt like a little home away from home. Lovely!!

About the host
Hosted by Nick & Amy Schaefer
The Ledges Resort & Marina started with my grandparents Nicholas J Schaefer and his wife Amy. They purchased the property in 1961 and made it their home. In 1963 they built a motel and named it The Ledges. They also opened a German restaurant on the property named The Old World Inn. They closed the restaurant 1982, but continued with the motel. In later years the motel was managed by my parents, Jerome and Deborah Schaefer. They expanded into the marina and cottage rental business. In 2013 after 50 years in business we made a decision as a family to close the business and tear down the motel.
In 2014 my wife and I purchased the property from my parents. We remodeled the old buildings and built brand new cottages from the ground up. We re-opened to guests in the spring of 2015. I was named after my grandfather, Nicholas, and it just so happens that my wife’s name is Amy. So, once again Nick & Amy are your hosts at the Ledges!
