What a wonderful place to stay for our 25th Anniversary trip! The property was stunning with all the different types of plants and flowers. The local chickens were polite, fun to watch, and the roosters were pleasant alarm clocks. The location was perfect for getting to the North Shore or South Shore easily and the property was very private. Rob was great to work with as we were arriving even though he was in another country. We will be back!

This is a wonderfully charming home

We loved our stay here. The house is beautifully furnished, the land around the house is peaceful and spacious. We found plenty of great beaches and restaurants in the area, as well as hikes. It is the perfect place to really unplug and get away - quiet, peaceful, charming, comfortable.

Hale Kokio Stay

One of our new favorite places to stay! We had such a great trip and loved coming back to the cottage at the end of the day to soak in the hot tub and get a good nights sleep. Really peaceful setting with lots of trees and greenery for privacy and amenities to make for a really comfortable stay. Would love to come back and stay again someday!

Perfection with magical Hale Kokio

Thank you for a wonderful stay in your cottage. Quaint, cozy, quiet, and private - exactly what we were looking for. Our neighbors were chickens, frogs, cats, and dogs. Great location for exploring the North Shore.

This is a very nice small rental for couples in a beautiful setting

Hale Kokio was a great spot to spend a week on vacation celebrating our 50th anniversary. This is a quiet secluded property, but not far from many sites on the north shore. The noticeable neighbors were mainly cats, dogs, chickens, roosters and other fam animals, fun to hear! We recommend to any couple wanting a pleasant vacation spot.

Peaceful retreat

We had a great stay. The private garden/park around the cottage exceeded expectations. The cottage was clean and well stocked. We appreciated having beach chairs and beach towels. It’s nice to be away from the tourist crowds but a very short drive from restaurants in Kilauea and fantastic beaches. Bring some earplugs because the roosters will crow around the clock (but I don’t think you can avoid that anywhere in Kauai).

Wonderful private cottage

Perfect for couples who don't want the crowds of the typical resort or busy travel areas. Out of the way but not far from things needed. Incredibly nice owners who make sure you don't need anything and are available any time. Property is absolutely gorgeous. You won't be disappointed.

Hale Kokio No Ka 'oi

This property is heavenly with fruit trees, flowers, palms and lots of friendly chickens. It's a great location that's quiet and private, yet a short distance to Kilauea, Hanalei and beautiful beaches. Our host Rob was helpful but not the least bit intrusive. The Hale is clean, airy and bright with a well-equipped kitchen and a lovely lanai. Perfect for a couple or single person.

Lovely relaxing location

It was so quiet and peaceful! Our only complaint would be the length of time it took for the hot water to get hot enough for use. Other than that we loved it and really enjoyed having a hot tub rihjt on the deck. Would stay again.

Decompress

Great covered patio to eat meals and listen to the animal and bird sounds of Kauai. Wake up to large green plants outstretched across the windows. Very nice place to start a vacation and decompress from the grinds of life.

Peaceful Property

What an amazing location. On its own property with all the privacy you could desire. Surrounded by large properties this little gem gives you your own oasis. Easy driving to local beaches were you can just sit or grab the snorkel gear and follow the sea creatures around. Market is close by so you can stock up on food to cook or make your way to local restaurants. I highly recommend the property.

Perfect Bungalow for our Getaway

My husband and I spent 5 nights here for the first leg of our honeymoon. Such an amazing place! We don't care for crowded condos and large crowds of people...This place gave us the privacy we wanted and the ambiance of a true Island feel! The Deck was cozy, the small hot tub was perfect for an after hiking soak. I would definitely recommed staying here, and when we come back we will stay here again. Thank you!

Sweet spot - quiet and private

Overall - the cottage was really cute, well maintained, and very clean. All the amenities we needed were there, and we loved the beach chairs and towels. We didn't actually spend much time at the cottage given that there is so much to do in Kauai, but it was peaceful and quiet, and the property is well maintained. Rob and Eleanor were very communicative and always there even when there were a few hiccups. Thanks for a great visit!

Couple’s Paradise

Hale Kokio really is a magical and romantic cottage for a couple to stay in while on the north shore. Tastefully decorated with 300 degree views of the lovely grounds, it had everything you could want for your vacation. Off to the many close-by beaches with beach chairs, towels, umbrella and a cooler - all available in the cottage. And returning at night for a dinner on the deck with a late night hot tub. Who could ask for more? We loved our stay and hope to return again!

Perfect Kauai Cottage

We really enjoyed out stay at Hale Kokio, the pictures and description are exactly what you will find at this property. The location is very easy to get to and a short drive to any activities that you will be taking in. There is so much to do in Kauai, you will be so grateful to come back at the end of the day to the quiet, peaceful and totally private cottage. We loved the North Shore and found this to be the perfect place to start and end our day. The cottage was clean, with everything you will need. There are roosters everywhere in Kauai, they did not bother us at all, there is too much other beautiful sights and sounds around you. Eleanor was a pleasure to deal with, I highly recommend spending time on your vacation here, you won't regret it!!

Sweet Kilauea Cottage

An exceptionally charming and very private cottage. It was memorable and a complete magical oasis for us during our stay. The location of nearby Kīlauea is perfect. It is one of our favorite spots on Kauai. We loved all the local neighborhood farm stands that were stocked with fresh fruits, herbs, and flowers. Room for improvement: could use a little more attention to detail when it comes to cleaning. The hot tub takes a really long time to heat up so you need to set to the temp you want earlier in the day if you want to use it at night. Minimally stocked (no salt/pepper, seasonings, olive oil, etc) so bring what you need to cook your meals. Very reasonable price wise for a rental on the north shore. Overall, very fulfilling and beyond beautiful! Thank you

Feeling like a "local"

Do you want to stay in a cramped hotel room? Do you want the housekeeper knocking on your door each morning to see if you're gone? Do you want to hear the kids from New Jersey stomping down the hall constantly with their mama yelling after them? Hopefully you said yes as an answer for all of these questions, then I will have no competition rebooking Hale Kokio again. When you stay at this gorgeous cottage on the Northern Side, you will feel like one of the locals. The cottage is super clean, quiet and a perfect yard with so many fruit trees. You are a ten minute drive from the towns and beaches. So take your pick - have a real TOURIST vacation or live the island style and pretend you are a local for a week or two or really bang on your pahu and stay for a month.

A peaceful, beautiful place...

Hale Kokio was gorgeous and just what I needed. I was traveling by myself and had gone a long time without a break. I just wanted stillness and to hear the surf and birds in the trees. Everything about the cottage was as advertised. When I got there, Rob and Lisa left a bowl with fruit from trees on the property. The sounds of birds in the trees, strolling around the rolling lawn and the exquisite night skies all stay with me now, months later. I don't have to say how beautiful Kauai is. I spent a week seeing the sights; snorkeling, hiking, and I know I barely scratched the surface. I'm grateful that Hale Kokio and Kauai were there for me. As I get thrown back into the world, I will have a little place of peace in my heart from my vacation on Kauai. Till the next time, Aloha. Sam

Fantastic location, needs a couple things

Highly recommend staying in this area, and the cottage is perfect for a couple. Great, private location, well supplied kitchen (no tea kettle though), good layout. Sadly, the bedding is pretty awful: polyester sheets on top of a plastic mattress cover on top of a foam topper on top of the mattress so it was very soft and super hot and sweaty even though it was in the low 60’s, would be miserable in even warmer weather. The hot water heater desperately needs to be upgraded. On demand is fantastic, but this one can’t even get the water hot unless it’s on full blast, takes forever to get warm, and never gets hot enough for a comfortable shower. There’s a hot tub positioned right outside the bedroom that turns on every few hours and wakes you up at night. If those items are addressed, than it would be worth the price.

Cosy and peaceful cottage

Spent a very happy and restorative week here . The cottage is comfortable and very quiet. We particularly loved the hammock in the pretty gardens as a great place to read and relax. We had hoped to sit outside in the evenings but the mosquitoes were vicious. Obviously not the owners fault but be warned . We had most essential items although more glasses would have been useful. Washer dryer worked well and shower was great if you follow the instructions. Beach chairs and towels were great as was the cooler and ice packs. Didn’t use the barbecue as it had not been cleaned but looked like it would be good . We mainly ate out . Happy talk lounge was a fun local setting with good live music but our favourite place was Bar Acuda. Amazing tapas and cool vibe so don’t miss it. The cottage has a great location as you feel quite remote but are just moments from the main road and a short distance to some fantastic beaches. The owner was great to work with and we appreciated the early check in. Thank you

We had a wonderful stay at Hale Kokio and would come back in a heartbeat. The property is very private and we really enjoyed exploring and eating fruit from all the trees. There was lots of wildlife to watch from the porch or inside. Although this was our favorite aspect of the rental, it was pretty buggy inside and out. If you don't enjoy insects, geckos, or wildlife, you probably will be a bit uncomfortable here. Perfect star watching at night. The location is excellent, not too far from anywhere on the island and close to stores, farmer markets, beaches, etc. The kitchen is well stocked and there is beach equipment for use. Great value for the property as well.

50th Birthday getaway

We had such an amazing stay, perfectly cozy and relaxing. The location was close enough to grocery, restaurants, & beaches, and far enough away for privacy. The kitchen was stocked with all the necessities we needed for cooking. We enjoyed breakfast & coffee on the porch. There’s also the most incredible orange tree in the yard! We had THE BEST fresh squeezed juice everyday. Such a wonderful place! Thank you!
