About this property

The Buccaneer-Cottage, great for a couple or small family.

This cottage has a wonderful front porch for enjoying sitting outside and relaxing. The view is of Teeters campground. It was renovated in 2018 and a second bedroom was added in 2019. It is a two bedroom (queen in the master and bunk beds in the other)we do NOT provide sheets, one bath, open floor plan with living room and kitchen. The kitchen is very basic, if you are planning to cook gourmet meals, this is NOT the place for you. Ocracoke has many wonderful restaurants. The location is within walking distance to Silver Lake and the shops and restaurants and is spitting distance from the British Cemetery. The beach is a mile from the rental. There is a Smart TV in the first bedroom and living room with internet and cable. You will need your own Netflix, Hulu or Amazon account, and for those that are not tech savvy, we have cable. We do NOT post on Craigslist, so if you see it there it is not us renting it. We only go through VRBO/Home Away.

We do not offer refunds for weather related cancellations, ferry issues or illness. We highly recommend that you purchase optional travel insurance. If you want to do early check in there is an additional $45 fee. It is extra added stress for our cleaners to have everything ready for those that get here on an early ferry. Normal check in time is 3:30 pm and check out time is 11:00. If you want to check out late it is a $100 fee.

Ocracoke Preservation Museum and Deepwater Theater are cultural highlights, and some of the area's landmarks include British Cemetery and Fort Ocracoke Monument. Ocracoke Pony Pens and Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum are also worth visiting. With parasailing, surfing/body boarding and fishing nearby, you'll find plenty of adventures in the water.

We enjoyed our stay at The Buccaneer! Great location close to everything we wanted to do. Being able to easily rent a golf cart right at the cottage was a bonus. Owners were very communicative and responded quickly when needed. Loved that we could bring our dogs along with us too. We’d definitely stay here again in the future.

It’s a lovely cottage. Shops close. Kitchen well equipped and big refrigerator. It was just my husband and I so we had plenty of room! The beds in the second bedroom are single ( not bunk) all mattresses are comfortable! Nice tv in living area. Only one we used.

We are a family of 4 that loves Ocracoke. We live on a small farm in NC with our 3 dogs and 6 fainting goats. Our goat Yoshi is in the photo, trying to get to the top of the hay bale.

Why they chose this property

The Buccaneer is not much to look at on the outside, but once you walk in it is clean, homey, and beautifully decorated. A local spent the winter choosing just the right everything to make the Buccaneer perfect. The property was formally my children's favorite shop on the island, Candyland.

This cottage is was renovated in 2018 and has a wonderful front porch that will allow you to enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
