About this property

Luxury Cabin Overlooking Lake Wanahoo

Sto-Nee Ridge, is located on Spencer Hill, a secluded, beautiful park-like acreage 30 minutes from Omaha and Lincoln. The cabin has fantastic views of nearby Lake Wanahoo and features a 2600 sq. ft. open floor plan decorated with modern/rustic furnishings, knotty pine cathedral ceilings, reclaimed antique barn wood flooring and granite countertops. The 5 bedrooms/3 baths are appointed with luxury linens.

The main floor has a fully equipped kitchen, a great room with dining capacity for 12 indoors or on the adjoining deck. The main floor also has two bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with two twin XL beds that can be joined as a king.

The lower level has three additional bedrooms:
1. 2 sets of bunk beds (twins on top and fulls on the bottom)
2. 2 sets of bunk beds (twins on top and fulls on the bottom)
3. 1 queen bed and two full bathrooms.
The lower level also features a flat screen tv with a DVD player and access to a cozy patio. There is a large bed swing on the patio for reading your favorite book.

Due to parking and bathroom restrictions we are unable to host events on our acreage but can recommend several great options nearby.

The quiet town of Wahoo is located 1 mile south and offers many conveniences from fast food to restaurants, banks, a bakery, a meat locker and grocery store. The town also has an 9-hole golf course, a large park and swimming pool and is the site of the Saunders County Fair. Omaha's world class Henry Doorly Zoo, the College World Series and the annual Berkshire Hathaway meeting are an hour's drive away. The Wahoo Municipal Airport is also located just 1 mile east.

We are sorry but due to allergy issues we cannot accommodate pets. We also do not permit smoking, excessive drinking or loud parties on the premises at any time.

Linda's home is stunning! The house is clean, the beds are comfortable, and communication was perfect! The views are great and there's lots of comfortable seating. The large dining room table was awesome for dinner, talking, and we even worked on a puzzle. I hope to stay here again. Thanks Linda!

It was a beautiful house and fit our needs for 14 people perfectly. the only reason for the four-star on the description is that the actual location of the house is outside of Omaha not downtown Omaha has the map shows.

Big family cabin weekend.

Beautiful area walking distance Lake Wannahoo. Large upstairs open living, cooking, eating spaces. Well optioned kitchen to cook for large groups. Awesome views out the large windows and large patio. The additional living space in the basement helps keeps the kids happy. Short walk down to the Lake where there is a playground and fishing dock.

The house is gorgeous inside and out. Plenty of space to spread out. Loved the view, the deck and the patio. The kitchen was incredibly well-equipped, with top of the line cookware and utensils. The knives are sharp; the serving bowls and platters are beautiful. Big, clean gas grill. High quality toiletries and linens. We took many pleasant walks to the lake but were prevented from kayaking by windy conditions. The community pool closed in early August so that wasn’t an option for us. We have stayed in many rentals over the years. This was the best yet!

Our whole family called the stay magical!

Upscale Cabin feel with all the amenities and clever special touches like a kids play nook under the stairs, super strong swinging bench and multiple seating areas for conversations. We had plenty of room to congregate for meals and enjoy fellowship. The grounds are well manicured and the house immaculate. All the guests noticed and commented. It’s truly a magical place.

Grandpa’s 80th birthday celebration

The home was beautiful and spacious and had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend. The open rooms, large tables, abundance of seating, gorgeous deck area, beautiful scenery and grounds made our large family gathering just perfect. The little ones loved the play area “hideout.” The house is so well appointed and had everything we needed. Linda was so responsive! Can’t say enough great things!

Perfect location for our family reunion with 30 people!

Not only are the cabins beautiful, but also didn't want for anything. The spaces were spotless, organized, labeled and just top notch. Comfortable beds and so happy there aren't TV's on the main levels. We especially enjoyed the covered decks and expansive property for the kiddos to run wild. Linda was super responsive to every question (although there weren't many!) I highly recommend staying here. Worth every penny.

Family Reunion, 1st one in 10 years

We planned on having our reunion at the cabin planning on a fairly small number of participants. We got such a great response, so had to move the reunion to Lake Wanahoo Recreation Area just about 2 miles from the cabin. We ended up using the cabin as a base of operations for the siblings. Everyone had a blast both at the cabin as well as the Recreation area. Everyone who came to the cabin thought it was great. We enjoyed our stay and will stay here again.

Memories Made!

Each summer my family gets together for a long weekend to enjoy making memories, reminiscing about old times and just having fun. We felt right at home at Sto-Nee Ridge. From the fully stocked kitchen, to the beautiful outdoor space and comfortable beds, we could have stayed forever. We also enjoyed fishing at the lake and also did some kayaking and canoeing thanks to Leaha and Hammer Rentals. Linda was a breeze to work with, even giving us free aquatic center passes and tips for local places like the bakery and the meat locker. Thanks so much! We hope to come back!

family vacation

The house was wonderful for a large group. We especially enjoyed the large patio. It was big enough (and well equipped) for all 14 of us to have meals together. We were very comfortable in the entire home. The well equipped kitchen was a delight for preparing meals. Unfortunately the lake was a bit disappointing. It's rather new and it is a no wake lake. We were there in late July and the fishing was terrible. Our grandchildren enjoy playing cards and board games as well as outdoor sports so we had a great time with them.

Perfect Gathering Place

Wow! That was the first impression of those that gathered with us for a recent 50-year college reunion. We came from as near as Omaha and Lincoln and far away as Idaho. This cabin was more than perfect for our group to have plenty of room to enjoy our visit, including walks around the lake, trips to town (Wahoo) and sitting on the amazing patio in the moonlight. All of the decorations and amenities (including well-stocked kitchen) are so well thought out and added to the comfort of our stay. This will easily be our go-to place for future gatherings. We are also excited that there is a second cabin on the grounds should our group grow beyond the 5 bedrooms in this cabin. You too will want to experience this one!!!

Far Beyond Expectations!

Such a beautiful home! Decorated inside & out for the season. Stocked with every possible necessity, even flavored coffees and double chocolate chip sour cream bread. Fifteen women stayed here to attend Junkstock Fall Edition. This is not just another rental. When you walk in you feel like this home was built and decorated specifically for you. We had no children with us, but wished we had. Fun play area under the steps! We cooked, grilled, played games (all provided) and saw a beautiful sunrise from the living area. Linda made check in super easy. We were able to check in anytime after noon. That gave us a great deal of leeway. If you are planning a reunion, wedding, family escape, or whatever I strongly recommend you stay here. (Even if you have to make up a reason 😉)

Wedding weekend

We spent a beautiful October weekend here for a wedding in Elkhorn. Wanted something more comfortable than a hotel room for my grandchildren (6 months/2 1/2 years) and quiet. This property was everything I was looking for. The beds were all comfortable. The kitchen and gathering area were perfect to interact with everyone while preparing meals. The swing was fabulous. The lake is a short walk away with a play area on the way. Everything we needed was available and Wahoo was a short drive. Great meat locker in town for food to grill. Our group came from Grand Island and Waukee Iowa for the weekend and did not want to leave.

Rick and Linda are empty nesters with 4 children and 11 grandchildren. We both grew up in small towns in the mid-west. Rick grew up in Wahoo and Linda in Springfield. We now live in Elkhorn and love making a special place for others to build memories. We also enjoy dining out, playing tennis and traveling.

Why they chose this property

This wonderful parcel of land was purchased by Rick and his father, Spencer Dorothy, over 40 years ago to be used as a borrow site for their excavating business. At that time it was a hill of farmland. Spencer passed away in 1997, a few years before the State of Nebraska's Lake Wanahoo was even presented as a possibility. We hope that developing 'Spencer Hill' and sharing it with families around the country for their special gatherings, honors his life.

What makes this property unique

The views of the lake are fantastic! This cabin has a very open feeling with lots of sunshine and outdoor living space. The private outdoor deck offers seating for up to 30 people and awesome views of the lake. The property is ideal for those looking for a place to get close with nature yet enjoy the comfort of home.
