About the host
Hosted by Daniel

Daniel and Marjan are a fun loving couple who enjoy the peace and solitude the Adirondacks and Lake Abanakee has to offer. Both are artists and college professors who are ascetically energized by the woods and outdoor sanctuary and all of natures abundance up here at the lakefront. There is a saying at our camp "if you are lucky enough to have a house on the lake you are lucky enough". And we are privileged to share it with our guests. We hope you can share our joy and our lakeside retreat so you too can find the relaxation we enjoy.
Why they chose this property
After years of camping in the great north woods and swimming in every lake we could find we began renting various cabins in the area and looking for a spot we could call our own. We found Balsam Point after we married and have worked to create a sanctuary where our creative minds could be energized. This magical spot offers wonderful swimming from our beach and dock in the velvety water of Lake Abanakee. Up here relaxing is an activity and we take it seriously. We have built our home and grounds around the idea that comfort and enjoyment are what we wanted and I feel we succeeded in creating an ideal Shangri-la in the woods.
What makes this property unique
2 Story contemporary, Large lakside yard, and huge boat dock, kayaks, canoes, boats, paddleboard, fire pit, with tiled patio, 2 covered porches, open concept ground floor, high speed internet, hundreds of TV channels and premium streaming services, chefs kitchen, outdoor and indoor dining for large groups.
Our home is situated in a serine cove of Lake Abanakee, a 9 mile lake next to the much larger Indian Lake. This spot offers peace and quite in a very low traffic area. Maybe you see a couple of Kayaks or a couple of Loons on any given day. Birds and Chipmunks play in the yard and fish jump in the lake. There is great fishing for Bass or Pike and Trout down river.
The area has so much to do, great roads for biking and lakeside strolling, wonderful streams to discover paddling the backwater by the house. Swimming , Barbecuing, and laying on the hammock or star gazing at night by the fire pit. You can see the Milky Way and shooting stars all night long. A magical spot for you to discover.
You can walk or bike 2 miles around the lake from our house, you are 5 miles to the town with movie theater and restaurants, and a few miles to lots of hiking trails. No fast speedboat or jetski lake, perfectly safe for small kids, and gentle paddlers.
