Although the unit and building is older, the location could not have been better. The view from the balcony was breathtaking of the ocean and diamond head. The bed was very comfortable. It does get a bit noisy but we used a noise cancelling app and earplugs and had no problem sleeping. Would definitely stay there again. Good value for the money

Honolulu stay

Motorcycles at Honolulu zoo parking lot are horrible, but everything else about the place is great.

Great views, good location, decent room

We enjoyed our stay at the WGH. Only downside, was the street noise. Having the slider closed helped muffle the noise, but it didn't help when you get loud cars and motorcycles going by.

Perfect location, amazing view

Perfect location, at the end of the busy waikiki. The unit has a perfect view, balcony, the room is Big enough and got whatever you need inside. The hôtel staff is very friendly and helpful. The only bad thing i have to say is that the unit is overall a bit old and was not very clean. But will certainly come again

Great Location!

This rental is in an ideal location for a holiday. It is located across from the Honolulu Zoo and just steps away from the beach. We have stayed here before and just love the location.

Another great vacation

2nd time I’ve stayed in this location and it was as good as the first, location is perfect with wonderful morning views. Also great location for getting about with most places within walking distance or short bus journey

Location location location!

A very cute and comfy studio. It took us maybe two minutes to walk to the beach, the zoo is across the street. This place is central to shopping, restaurants and fun! A beautiful view of diamond head from the lanai every morning while we drank coffee. We’d consider staying again!

Location location location

Excellent location and views. The unit is clean, just like the photos and the location and affordability are real winners. Some renovations are due but overall we'd definitely recommend staying here. Oh and the bed was comfortably the best!

Fantastic

Spent almost 3 weeks in this property and it was fantastic, Breakfast or Evening meals on the Lanai watching Sunrise & Sunset were one of the many highlights. Already planning my next trip to Hawaii and this location

A good stay

It's a one-room apartment with a great view to diamond head, the zoo and the beach. We enjoy the view with wine and chips. we need 2 minutes to the beach.

Great location

The property was in a great location in Waikiki and easily accessible. The property managers were amazing at communicating with me via text and email, making me feel at ease. The only thing is that the tub didn't drain really well, but other than that, everything was great

Best view in Waikiki

This is the second time I stayed in this unit in the Waikiki Grand. The location and view cannot be matched! Well, maybe they can at five times the price. Seriously, for a comfortable-- and affordable-- vacation, I highly recommend this studio!

The property was good. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, lifts were beneficial as it was on the 7th floor. Great view of the ocean. On the downside, it was showing its age and in need of some basic maintenance. Location was excellent - within 200m from the beach, restaurants & shops. It was busy day & night. PS.a decent broom & dust pan would have been good

Clean condo, very close to beach and bus routes. Could use a new bed. But. . the view of Diamond Head and the ocean is so amazing. . that we forgave the poor quality of the furniture.

Can’t Beat The Views…!!!

Excellent location in Waikiki, with head-on views of Diamond Head, the Zoo, and the start of Kapiolani Park, with even an ocean view to the side! Great balcony to sit, especially with a cup o’ Joe to start the day with a sunrise over Diamond head, or end the day with a beer (or glass of vino) to watch the evening lights. Lots of windows! The unit itself is serviceable — smaller than the wide-angled photo depicts; older fixtures and furnishings, but totally decent for short stays. And, did I mention the views?! Smashing!! The unit abuts the elevators, but there was no noise issues whatsoever; ditto for the downstairs nightclub, either. The lobby boasted friendly Aloha service, as well! Check-in was fast. Located at the eastern edge of Waikiki, it’s convenient to everything, especially if you enjoy walks/runs in the park! We didn’t use the small kitchen, but it’s not for full meals. (And, too, it was a very convenient drive for my family to pick us up!) Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Mahalo nui loa…!! :D

Excellent location and excellent service

I was concerned about some of the previous reviews, so I contacted the property manager before we arrived to find out if problems mentioned had been taken care of. They had. The futon that had been described as "falling apart" had been replaced. The room was well-supplied, and the property management was excellent in their responsiveness. I didn't notice the street noise that was mentioned in other reviews. The location was perfect. Since it was in the center of everything, parking would have been an issue had we not paid for a reserved spot. I definitely recommend that if you have a car, unless you're willing to park some distance away and walk to the hotel when you return at night. Reviews mention an old building. Peeling paint doesn't bother me, but if it bothers you you might want to stay somewhere else. I would definitely stay here again. Also, I left my sandals, and they were great about boxing them up and shipping to me. Thank you!

Great location, bit noisy

We really liked this location. It's a 2 minute walk to the beach and the street with all the stores on it. I highly recommend getting a parking pass, as side parking is not really available. I have a couple small complaints. 1st is the sliding door. It doesn't seal all the way so it was like sleeping with a window open and seeing as it's right next to the beach and restaurants, you hear music, people talking and cars all night. So I'd suggest bringing a sound machine. 2nd there was only half a roll of toilet paper when we arrived, so we had to pick up some more. 3rd the pull out couch isn't really a pull out couch. It has a cover over it because the faux leather is peeling all over the place so we didn't really feel comfortable taking that off to pull out the bed. Didn't use the kitchen amenities so no comments on that. Overall though, we'd definitely stay here again.

Wonderful vacation rental!

I have stayed in Honolulu 6 times, and 4 of those at rentals at the Waikiki Grand on Kapahulu. This rental was the best! The view from the unit and on the lanai is really beautiful and for me, is what staying in Hawaii is all about. The unit was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed. The refrigerator is full sized with a real freezer. They also provided plenty of towels and extra sheets. Though I didn't use any of the beach chairs or water toys, those would be great for a family with kids. The unit is larger than many of the units in the Waikiki Grand and was perfect for my daughter and I. New to me in a rental: a ceiling fan and blackout blinds. Wow, awesome! I don't really like AC, and so just put the fan on high and opened the windows. The blackout blinds allowed us to sleep in, past sunrise. FYI, if you're new to Waikiki, the Waikiki Grand is on the end of the busy strip and provides a quieter and less "touristy" location to use as base. The zoo is across the street, so in this unit, you aren't looking straight at another building. I will definitely rent this unit again! Wish I could attach one of my sunset pics I took from the lanai.... :-)

Spectacular views

First the good. . . The view from the lanai is spectacular, from sunrise over Diamond Head to the sun sinking into the Pacific. And you don’t have to look at other hotels, just the zoo, park, Diamond Head and beach. Location is perfect, one block off the beach and walking distance to everything you might need. Then the price is very good. Other properties in the area are double. Now the bad. The unit is in bad shape and probably never renovated since it was built. The ad photos are deceptive but accurate. My wife complained about the unit not being clean the entire stay. My biggest complaint was no cable TV. We tried streaming but the wifi speeds are so slow the buffering was maddening. I ran a speed test on my iphone and the Mbps rate was about one tenth my internet back home. If you like spectacular views while sitting on your lanai and saving money this is the unit for you. If you like nice, newer accommodations, this isn’t for you. Even the ice trays in the freezer had holes in them. Oh, and the hotel staff at the desk were wonderful. Mahalo

Great View

The view was fantastic! The location was great, if you get a trolley ticket, it's at one end of Waikiki, so getting to the other end is a walk. As for the room, my husband and I are in our 50's and require a soft bed, we did not sleep well. It was very hot as we slept and had to buy a fan. I really hope this stays in room for other guest. I'm not sure if it was normal, because the AC was worked on the day before we left and so the room felt cooler. This was not communicated with us. One of the main reasons I stayed in this room was the stove, thought we could save some money by cooking breakfast, only one burner works so verify difficult to cook more than one item. The breaker blew when cooking and the smoke alarm went off because its right above the burner. I had to wash dishes with hand soap. Beware you have to buy bags, so make sure you bring your own, I left some paper bags but I'm sure they won't stay, also there is a cooler, beach chairs, beach towels provided so less things you have to pack. One of the other reasons I booked this VRBO was it states 25 dollar taxi ride from airport to Hotel, I was told this was from hotel to airport only, Also Not true. All in all it was a good stay, but I dont think I would stay again.
