About this property

Western Lodge in Wapiti Valley near Yellowstone

This spacious lodge on the Wapiti Valley Ranch is located in the Wapiti Valley, halfway between Cody, Wyoming and the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park. Teddy Roosevelt once called the highway between Cody and Yellowstone as the “most scenic 52 miles in America”. Situated very near the highway, 30 miles from the East Gate, and 22 miles from Cody, the Lodge is an ideal home base for exploring the area.

Guests enter into the great room with a rustic seating area, a day bed with trundle, and a dining area. The commercial-sized kitchen is fully equipped and opens into the great room. The single bathroom in the lodge is behind the kitchen. Upstairs there are two bedrooms each with a full-sized bed, dresser, and seating. One bedroom is a loft open to the great room and is accessible only through the first bedroom.

Awesome location
Awesome location, very relaxing just sitting on the front porch and taking in the majestic mountain view. The cabin was very clean , large and everything we needed for our 8 day stay. We visited Yellowstone and the scenic drive approximately 30 miles to the east entrance was beautiful. We also visited Cody which was a bonus with the Beautiful Buffalo Bill Dam and State Park plus lots to see in town. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to everyone whose looking for an amazing vacation.

Yellowstone off the beaten path
Experience Yellowstone like a local and stay at Yvonne and Doug's ranch. The location is prime to go anywhere in the park. Yvonne is just a text/email away. Doug had lots of tips for restaurants and activities. The lodge was perfect for 4 adults and the large kitchen and dining area are perfect to relax after a day out on the trails. The piano ( slightly out of tune) was the cherry on top the cake. We will definitely come back.

Beautiful Location
The lodge is located on a vast parcel of property. It seems to be one of 4 rentals available for people. It’s an old camp- the lodge specifically was probably the kitchen. If your family is comfortable with rustic this is a great value. Was a perfect to start our days from.

About the host

Summers in Wyoming and winters in Texas, we have enjoyed our beautiful Wyoming home for 27 years. We are happy to share our knowledge of the area with our guests and welcome them to our "unplugged" Wyoming life lived in the midst of God's glorious creation. We love traveling, the arts, organic gardening, and family time together.

Why they chose this property

Located on a small ranch with two homes, a lodge, and a cabin, this property offers the authentic Western experience. Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the ranch is the perfect place to unplug and soak up the beauty of the Yellowstone region. Although the ranch is just off the main highway between Cody, WY, and the East Gate of Yellowstone, it feels secluded, peaceful, and private.

The two additional homes and small cabin also located on the ranch make it a perfect spot for larger groups and family reunions. Please inquire about renting the entire ranch.

What makes this property unique

Only 30 miles from the East Gate of Yellowstone National Park, the ranch is a perfect base for exploring the greater Yellowstone region. Horseback riding, hiking, and fishing are all near by.

Cody, home to the world-famous Center of the West with its five separate museums, also has art galleries, river rafting, grocery stores, and great shopping and restaurants, and a nightly performance of the Cody Nite Rodeo, is only a twenty-five minute, scenic drive away. There are also several restaurants and a small convenience store within five miles of the Lodge.
