We gather 4 households together. 7 adults and 4 kids (6-10 years old). This is our second time staying here. Absolutely love this place! I want to tell everyone how great it is but then I want to keep this place to ourselves.
Maurine was wonderful. She was always available to answer questions. Her home is beautiful and so comfortable. This was a unique opportunity to interact with all of the rescue animals that are all so well cared for. We are looking forward to staying again in the future. Thanks Maurine for making our stay so memorable.
Very relaxing place to stay. Nine of us from 18 years to 70 years, we all enjoyed walking around and visiting with the animals. The star of the show was certainly Tina, the goat. She visited the front porch often. If we weren’t there to give her immediate attention, she would often just relax in the chair till we got there. We also walked back to the water a couple times. Saw several deer and a bench to watch the water. Clean and comfortable. Well stocked kitchen for fixing meals.
Maurine was a fantastic host! Her farm was everything as described and it provided the perfect getaway for friends celebrating a 50th birthday. The home was beautiful and had everything needed…the eclectic decor added to the charm! The animals were so fun to watch and you never knew who was going to greet you when you walked out.
What a sweet find. Couldn't have been any nicer! The farmhouse was perfect and all the rescue animals were wonderful. Realize this property might not be for everyone but for our extended weekend we couldn't have chosen a better spot. Maurine was wonderful to work with and everything was perdect from beginning to end.
Such a great property! My kiddo was in heaven with all the friendly animals (we were too)! And the house - is Amazing! So many beautiful areas to sit and visit - inside and out! The beds were comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing. Maurine was extremely responsive, friendly and helpful! The extra thought with the shampoo and conditioner, plenty of linens, condiments in the fridge (on top of a fully stocked kitchen!), the firewood. It felt like a family member had prepared ahead for us to visit. We definitely hope to stay here again in the future! So highly recommended!
A church staff planning retreat for our Christmas events for next year. It was the perfect place and everything we needed. Love also the animals and while it was bitter cold and snowing all week not just the view was incredible but the animals were still all around the property. It was a winter wonderland and wonderful animals just made it that much better. Its definitely a place we can highly recommend.
House was extremely well stocked with necessities, very clean, and excellent for a large family. Communications with the property manager were easy and any questions were answered immediately. Five Stars!
We really enjoyed our stay! We had plenty of space for all 8 of us. So much fun seeing, petting, and playing with all the different animals. Maurine was very friendly and a great host!
The property is fairly remote, which, to me, is especially nice! It was very welcoming and cozy. Maurine is a wonderful hostess meeting our needs and offering horse rides for my two grandkids. I was here for my dad's funeral. So, all the animals and comfort of the home were very nice. I loved our stay and would definitely recommend this beautiful place.
We needed a place for our three families to gather (total of eight adults and three teenagers) for Christmas as our home is under construction. The house was decorated and even a Christmas tree was up and decorated. overall, a great traditional Christmas feel to it, Moreen when the extra mile for our stay. But the hidden bonus was morning reveille the Roster provided, wishing us a Merry Christmas. Thank You Moreen we had a wonderful Christmas at your home.
Maurine was wonderful, the kids learned so much and we enjoyed ourselves so much we are going back next year. This was such a interesting vacation, being one with the animals. If you want a vacation that is a bit different, I highly recommend a stay here.
My family and I rented this beautiful house for our family Christmas. It was the perfect spot to make and host dinners and play board games. Maureen even decorated the house for the holiday to make our stay more special.
We had reunion in the area. It was convenient. The home has three areas main bedroom, up one bedroom and down 2. Each of the 3 areas had a full bath. Lots of space, great working kitchen and lots of seating. We enjoyed the wrap around porch and the country air overlooking the pastures and animals. Fire pit out back with a stack of wood was inviting. Enjoy your stay.
We loved our stay! Eight family members from across the country gathered for a wedding in Lapeer. We had plenty of beds, bathrooms, and privacy; but more importantly, a spacious, homey, kitchen/dining area where we could ALL sit around and chit chat. Plenty of cookware for preparing late night pizza rolls. Morning offered rocking chairs on the front porch where we sipped coffee and watched the farm animals going about their business on the warm fall day. This may not be the house for guests with an aversion to farm life because of the smells, dirt, and noise that come with it but for us, it was just like being at grandmas house. I only with we could have stayed longer.
This was a huge house with three levels, there was 11 of us and we were never on top of each other. spent a lot of time on front porch and back deck. The animals were fun, one of the girls made a new friend with the Donkey. Host was great, and right there on property when you needed her. there is three bathrooms, one on each level. Really enjoyed our trip.
Didn’t stay. When we got to the property it was very unclean and in disrepair. Animals roaming loose which created feces around the ousted of the home.

Rescue animal farm
This farmhouse is in a rural area of Columbiaville with many varieties of animals wandering around! All very friendly! It sets way off the road and you have to manually open a gate to enter/ leave! The farmhouse beds are comfortable and plenty of room to sit for groups! There are no chairs around the bonfire so that was disappointing! Big front porch tho to sit on and watch the animals roaming around.
Was a great way to enjoy adventures of animals and the great outdoors!! The day filled with energetic activity outside and the evening filled with games and laughter inside!
Loved both the outdoor and indoor! Perfect for our 3 family gathering where we were all together during the day, and had separate family retreat areas for sleeping at night!
We would recommend to any young family (s) that want to be out of doors with horses and goats and a sheep and cats and indoors with great kitchen area and family gathering tables for games and dinners!
Thanks Maurine and Steve and Roy for this amazing “must ! enter action “ experience !
We have stayed at multiple farm houses, and like the others this one does not disappoint. Once we got over the mess that VRBO made with our reservation, everything worked out great. It is a working horse farm with many horses, goats and sheep. The horses are great to watch from the covered porch, the sheep will keep an eye on you, and the goats will amuse. Brought the kayaks out back to the river, which was great fun. The dog loved to run in the fields and short trails in the back. Inside a good kitchen with most everything that you would need. Great history of horses throughout the large and open house. Highly recommend.
We stayed at the farm house for a week. The house is beautiful and very comfortable and clean. One of the previous guests left a bad review and stated it was dirty, it's a farm, bring some boots! It was a great experience to get to know the animals and learn their personalities, they looked forward to the carrots and sliced apples every day as much as we enjoyed treating them. So much work goes into caring for these sweet animals and Maurine does a great job, she even took time out to show our grandson the baby ducks. It was also just a short walk to the Holloway Reservoir where we had some luck with some nice size catfish. I'm thankful for the week we shared with the horses and goats! Thanks Maurine!
We had a lovely time with friends. There was fishing, kyaking, antique shopping, going to the beach, s'mores around the fire pit, and horses, goats, a donkey, and several farm fowl on the property to enjoy watching and/or feeding. Inside the house we had plenty of seating. The kitchen had 2 ovens and an island for serving and seating. There was a small table for playing Euchre and a large dining table too. The house had two decks. I enjoyed coffee on the deck watching the animals in the morning. The view from the back deck was peaceful. I do wish there had been some shade on the back deck although the breeze was lovely. Overall, it was a fun place to get together.
