Hike nearby nature trails in Woodstock's Comeau Park or take a dip in the Mill Stream. Rent a bike at nearby Overlook Bikes and explore Cooper Lake, Wilson State Park or "The Big Deep" watering hole.

Above the Books has to be the best place to stay in Woodstock. Our hosts, Jeff and Audrey were wonderful. They were accommodating, informative, and just great to talk to. The unit was well furnished and very comfortable. Best of all was the location, within walking distance of everything. And private parking. We're already making plans to go back.

Woodstock Retreat

Wonderful apartment above Mirabai shop, in downtown Woodstock. Location is close to shops and restaurants. Apartment is really cute , clean and comfortable. Would definitely want to stay there again if back in that location.

The apartment is absolutely beautiful — every detail feels thoughtfully chosen, creating a warm and welcoming space. The full kitchen has everything needed to prepare meals, and having a washer and dryer during my stay was so convenient. The location couldn’t be more perfect. I walked to town every day, and most evenings I enjoyed an easy stroll to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Jeff and Audrey were wonderful hosts, offering thoughtful suggestions for things to do that I never would have discovered on my own — the kind of hidden spots only locals know. Visiting their bookstore was another highlight and added something truly special to my trip. My time here was relaxing, comfortable, and truly enjoyable. I’m already looking forward to returning.

Wonderful Stay (3rd time)

This is my third time staying at “Above the Books”. We always have a lovely and relaxing stay and the hosts are very responsive. The apartment is clean and cozy and located in the heart of Woodstock where you can walk to all of the restaurants and shops. My wife and I try to play a yearly trip to Woodstock and have found the perfect place to stay :)

Memorial Day Getaway

This is the third or fourth time I stayed at Above the Books. That should say it all. I love the location on the apartment... smack in town. The apartment is warm and cozy . Except for one slip up with the window, everything else was easy. I love the fact that the owners are right downstairs during the day. I will stay again.

This large apartment is centrally located for easy walking in Woodstock. Parking is available. Check in and out were easy. The space is funky and creative, just like the town. Hosts were super responsive. Will absolutely stay again.

Clean, convenient, charming!

Woodstock Perfection.

My friend in I booked this fun apartment above a wonderful bookstore for a weekend trip. The location was perfect. The apartment was comfy and so cute. We loved sitting on the deck! We are only sad that we left before the bookstore opened in the morning. We really wanted to grab some things.

Woodstock getaway

The rental is located smack dab in the middle of town which made everything easy to walk to. It was cozy, comfortable and had everything we needed. The host, Jeff, responded immediately to the few questions we had. If you are visiting Woodstock, I highly recommend Jeff’s property.

Great jumping off spot for exploration

Bed was comfy and loved having the whole upstairs to ourselves. Appreciated the washer/dryer!! It would be so amazing if the curb appeal was freshened up. It would be darling with a good power washing and fresh paint. It was a great jumping off point for discovering the Catskills and doing a bit of hiking!

A few years ago we transformed the space above the shop (our initial home here) into a vacation retreat that we call "Above the Books". It's our hope that the space reflects the serenity and lush beauty that we've created in the store below. Woodstock is unique among small towns in its dedication to the arts, alternative thought, natural beauty and spiritual fulfillment.
