You are welcomed to a 500 sq, ft private suite with kitchenette, dining/living area (with futon), bath, and king-sized sleeping loft overlooking a private creekside beach. Your separate entrance leads down to a guest deck with a barbecue, seating, hammock and our hot tub. This space is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet and respite from urban life. Guests can fall asleep with the sights and sounds of water from the creek and a waterfall across the canyon. You have use of a propane barbecue with a side burner located on the deck. If you travel 0.3 miles down to the creek, we will ask you to sign a liability waiver first. You can walk to the creek or drive with a 4 wheel or all wheel vehicle.
The kitchenette comes equipped with a microwave, small refrigerator, coffee maker and toaster. Upon your arrival you will find a welcome basket stocked with complimentary drinks, granola bars, microwave popcorn, chips and other snacks. In the unit you will have available for your browsing a book chocked full with ideas to discover here in Nevada County including 12 eateries within 5 miles, maps and descriptions of public swimming beaches located on the Yuba River Watershed, established hiking trails in the area rated by difficulty, maps and descriptions to over 15 local wineries, detailed descriptions and locations of 15 alpine and nordic ski resorts less than 2 hours from your unit.
There are several rustic trails along this parcel that would allow you to experience very private nature walks. Additionally, guests will find an extensive Hiking Guide in the unit detailing dozens of National Forest and locally maintained trails throughout Nevada County, as well as an additional guide listing the 12 eating establishments within 5 miles of this unit.
We offer this space for the adventurous souls to experience the calm and beauty of a natural surrounding or be nearby to share our love for our property and its wonders. The Gold Country is an artistic cultural haven with a bounty of activities. Guests are welcome to lounge by the creek on the deck by the waterfalls to have private picnics and relax and reflect in the peaceful atmosphere. You will be able to fall asleep to the sounds of Squirrel Creek and enjoy all of the amenities of our 30 acre, woodsy property. A hot tub is right outside your front door adjacent to a large deck equipped with a propane barbecue, hammock and patio furniture.
We are told that the highlight of most guests stay with us is the creek running through the bottom of our property. It is drivable to, or a short, but mildly challenging hike down to where we have created a park setting. Stairs that lead to the water's edge, a large swimming hole to enjoy, seating at numerous sites along the creek bed, a Winnebago camper with electricity, water and a functional bathroom next to a 16'x18' deck with a barbecue are all at your disposal.

Our unit is advertised as having a bed for 2. The futon is designed to be an added option for a small, third guest. When David booked our unit our discussion with him was that his wife may be the second person in the reservation and no initial mention of his son joining him.
If we knew he would be wanting to use the futon, we would have suggested our second unit with 2 beds would be more appropriate for David and his son.
I loved my week at this property. I was able to relax and take my time enjoying the sights. The creek had two great swimming holes to float in as well as plenty of seating so you could migrate with the shade to the most comfortable spots. I was able to catch up on some reading on the patio, watch the bats take off in the evening, and round off the day with a dip in the hot tub for the perfect sunset view.
Danny and Joanie were lovely hosts, extremely friendly and willing to be there as much or as little as you were comfortable with. They were very accommodating for my husband and my friend visiting me during me week-long stay.
I would definitely love to visit again!
A beautiful couple/family with a beautiful property. Whether it's a hot tub dip under the stars, a swim in the private creek, or watching the sunset on the hammock on the terrace -- this is the perfect getaway for a couple. Thank you both for the wonderful stay!
Kind , friendly couple was there to greet us and show us to our unit . Clean , peaceful and naturally beautiful grounds to enjoy while we stayed . Rare paradise 🙌
The location is good because you’re not far from an opportunity to swim in the Yuba river and dine in Nevada city in the other direction. The creek on the property is sweet and serene and a lovely meditation spot. It really is not accessible for anyone who can’t do a steep downhill walk. The hosts are wonderful In accommodating you and pick you up and drive you back up the hill to the house.
Quick romantic getaway, Dennis and Joanne were friendly and welcoming. They also respected our privacy, would enjoy hanging out with:) they shared peaches from their garden too!
We had plenty of space to enjoy their creek and the canyon below the house, we wandered up and down, only saw snakes, lizards, fish and birds. We got the hot tub under the stars(!), both nights to ourselves.
The apartment was very charming, we watched the sunset from the bed. Loved the beautiful ceramic sink in the bathroom.
It was lovely, better then expected:) my boyfriend was skeptical and then completely won over. I would rent again.
The Estin Treehouse is the perfect location to get away and get lost in the sound of nature. Danny was a great host and made it very easy to communicate with, even during COVID19. The creek is absolutely magical. Pack a bag for the day and plan on spending 4-6 hours in a pure secluded paradise. I would highly recommend!
The creek access was amazing, the views were spectacular. The owners are friendly wonderful folks.

An absolute haven
I was looking for a relaxing and private weekend in nature, and Danny and Joanie's place is simply amazing. I could not have asked for better hosts; there when you needed them, ghosts when you want privacy. Their home is gorgeous, as is the thirty acres it sits on. Sunsets in the hot tub are to die for. I am looking forward to many more relaxing and reinvigorating trips at the Treehouse. Already planning my next trip.
You won't be disappointed. Book your trip now before it's gone. ;)

Peaceful and beautiful country home in a prime location to explore!
Fresh dried fruit, beautiful creek, sheep and deer, you get a real country feel with this place! We spent the work week here and I was able to seamlessly work remotely with excellent WiFi. In the afternoons we explored the area. It’s a prime location for activities on the Yuba River and not too far for a visit to Tahoe. Dan and Joni are very generous hosts and really care about your experience. Even though a hosted site, still plenty of privacy. The red hammock is the best place for an afternoon nap or meditation. Enjoy a nice dinner on the grill and patio. Star gazing while relaxing in the hot tub. The loft is cozy and clean. We really loved our stay at the Estin Tree House!

Canyon retreat with private creek!
This place is the definition of a hidden gem. Not far from SF but it feels like you’re miles from the nearest signs of civilization. The apartment is perched on the side of a remote and beautiful canyon with a large deck overlooking the picturesque view. There are hammocks to lounge in during the day, a hot tub to soak up the stars at night, and a private creek with waterfalls, fish, a rock beach and all sorts of lounge seating hidden among the foliage to pass the time during a hot day. Danny and Joanie are amazing hosts, so accommodating without overdoing it - they respect your privacy but ensure you’re taken care of. Also, we saw deer, squirrel, lizards, fox, coyote, hawks, trout, and a wildcat! Great spot - Will definitely be back.

What an amazing review! We were so very happy to have both of you share our little slice of paradise. You and Kiana were outstanding guests and Joanie and I sincerely hope you return very soon.
We first moved to Nevada County in 1975 to open a group home for delinquent children. We are former educators who have recently retired from our 15 year teaching jobs at the International School of Bangkok. Although we have owned this 30 acre property for nearly 30 years, we only recently have built our home here. Joanie and Danny are high school sweethearts who have been together for 52 years. Our 34 year daughter lives in Seville, Spain and our 32 year old son resides in Bangkok, Thailand. They say our exposing them to the overseas' life has turned them into international citizens.
Why they chose this property
For the 30 years of owning this property we knew that we would eventually build a home here. This was the plan even during our 15 years teaching in Thailand. Every summer we would come back to our home across the highway from this property, but open a lot of time at the creek. We put in a well, road and built a deck near the water decades before ever moving here.
What makes this property unique
Clearly, the most compelling feature of this home is the location, location, location. Although we are 5 minutes by car from the super market, within 5 miles of 14 eating establishments and 15 minutes from Grass Valley, once on our 30 acre property, you get the sense of calm that comes from the sight and sounds you experience from the creek and waterfall's natural tones. Going to sleep with the windows open feel and sound like you are at the ocean listening to lapping waves. Along this same nature describing thought, many of our guests spend a good part of the day going down to our year round creek complete with beaches, swimming hole, sun deck, trails and hammocks.
